my 5 month old granddaughter crys to be held all the time i try putting her in walker activity chair and on floor to play with her activity blanket she never lasts longer then 5 minutes before she starts screaming ,i work with envelopes and such from home and sometimes have two or three other toddlers ,any suggestions how to get her from being spoiled  i have tried to not pick her up but then she screams until she is all red in face and i do take time to just play with her,so she not feeling neglect

i wouldnt say that she is spoiled.   some children need more skin on skin attention then others.  my son has always been this way i would suggest getting a body wrap that you can tie her to you with it gives you freedom of motion as well as soothing her need for closeness.  remember they will not be young forever and then you will miss that need they had to cuddle with you.

Take your grandchild outdoors, that usually get them going. the fresh air could be good for both of you and it reduces stress.  Of course if you're in winter weather like I know some people are it could be harder to do that.

Have you tried a baby carrier or sling or something like that? I've had two kiddos like that, but it doesn't last that way forever! ;) My almost 17 month old was like that for a time, but even 5 minutes at a time with floor time is good. My youngest (the 17 month old) didn't REALLY start to enjoy floor/play center time until about 6 1/2 months old?

Spending time with her is not going to spoil her. There's really no substitute for your time. She wants you to spend more time with her. We all want that.

Bear in mind that she will not always want your time. By then you may be wanting more of hers. :notworthy:

been awhile a long while since i had a baby .I remember leaving them cry for 10 minues or more and yes it's hard but you need a break too. If other kids are around maybe they can entertain for a little bit.
