What about taking him to Chuckie Cheese? Kids love it and it's not that expensive.

Congratulation on you son being nine next month.  Ask him what would he like to do on his birthday, or take him to see a movie.  Good luck.

Not being smart but how could anyone else know what he would like if YOU do not know?  We don't know him.  If he likes something different every day then it would be hard to say what he will like that particular day.

i know in our area they have an indoor trampoline center which is a great way for not only your son but you to get a fun workout in.  i would check into something like that.

At nine I had my son wrapped up in lacrosse.  We tried every sport from age five to age eight but he really fell in love with lacrosse.  He is now sixteen and playing in elite leagues.  At age nine he was also taking piano lessons and guitar lessons.  He had tried tae kwando when he was younger. We live in Colorado so we took him to the mountains a lot.  He also loved skiing at age nine. On vacations he tried surfing and loved it. Horse back riding was tried. We tried to expose him to everything possible. He is pretty well rounded but everything has boiled down to grades, lacrosse, skiing and surfing whenever he gets near the ocean. I took him hunting in January and now he can scratch that off of his bucket list.

Let him try different things...sports, music, martial arts, etc...

Then you'll know what he gravitates to. :D

Check on the Groupon or LivingSocial site for your area; I know in my area they have great deals for kid friendly activities in the area.
