I'm just asking because I think that might happen to me. I'm too poor to afford rent right now.

It is hard and i think alot are staying at home.My 23yr old unemployed son lives at home.Little bit of a crutch for him but he does alot of house work and yard work that we can't do. He does need to find a job .kind of worry that he will be in for a shock when he does leave at the rate he's going won't be for awhile.

In my culture/country that is what most people do, kids stay with their parents even if they can afford to move out.  My sister-in-law is over 60 yrs old and still leaves and takes care of my in laws.

Yes.
I have a couple life long friends whose family are from India.   One had an arranged marriage, & the family built a larger house from the one he grew up in so there would be room for him & his brother & their future families to all live together.   The other one built a larger house in the same city he was raised in & moved his parents in to live with him & his family.   I hear this is very common in other cultures.
I don't see a problem with it, as long as the "kids" are being productive & not just sitting in the basement playing video games (that stereotype).

My mother did, but I think that was a different situation from what you are talking about.  My mother had married, left home and started a family with my father, but they eventually separated and my grandmother moved in to take care of the kids.  She was still living with my mother when she died.  That was a long time ago, though, when families stayed together more.

As times get more difficult you may see that happen more and more.  And also the one thing that there will never be any more of is land.  There are too many people in this world.  Not enough food, land, jobs, or anything else to support them.

I don't think there is anything wrong with this.  Hopefully it doesn't become a kind of crutch that you see with some people.  A lot of people want to move on out or make more money but it just isn't in the cards at the time and they have to depend on the family.  People shouldn't feel ashamed if you are trying to do better and you need your family, at least your family is allowing you to stay however long you need :).

Sure do...it's just one life style that evolves more than making the choice.

Me, my sister and my brother all still live at home and we're in our mid 30s.  Partially due to rent outside but more because our dad travels a lot and our mother moved out a few years ago (it's a long story.)  The house is paid off but we pay for the maintenance and upkeep.
