I was just reading tonight about a young man trying to sell his car on Craigslist.  He and the car have disappeared.  The car has been located but the young man, a college student, is still missing.

I don't totally trust it. You just have to be very careful.

I have both bought and sold cars on Craigslist dozens of times with no problem. Once I sold a Mitsubishi Eclipse to a guy that lived 200 miles away that brought a trailer to pick it up and haul it home. He never would have known I had it for sale without Craigslist and my ad was free. The same thing was true with a boat I sold 3 counties away for $2,300 and the buyer never even test drove it before he paid cash with hundred dollar bills that spent just fine. I also bought my cellphone, several computers, monitors, electronic devices, firewood and who knows what all in the last 40 years with no problems. It's a place to advertise for free and has way more honest fair people just like anyone else, than crooks. Of course you need to pay attention and check things out, just like you would if you bought it from a classified ad in the newspaper. I love Craigslist and often go there just to browse around with no fear.

I personally would not buy a car from craigslist because I don't have to test drive the car to see how it feels. I would also want to see if the car is in good condition.

I sold my piano on Craigs List.  I was a nervous wreck, thinking the buyer might be a serial killer. We made arrangements for time of pickup, pay with cash, etc.  It went well.  I would always be very careful however.

I know a lot of people use Craigs List and I have used it a couple of times without luck as far as being able to sell my item but I'm not really comfortable with it.  It just kind of makes me nervous.

In my area several of the Police Stations have offered their lobbies for people to make Craigslist transactions, in this day and age I would only use that option when dealing with someone off CL

lol.  That is odd.  Our police station would never do that.  I could just see the reaction if anybody suggested they do something like that.

My friend just sold her car using craigslist.  The guy she sold it to stiffed her for $50.

She sold the car for $50?  Seriously?  She could have gotten more for that at a junk yard and been paid a legit check.

Iam  very careful when it comes buying stuff like vehicles and electronics from craigslist. Not everything on there are trustworthy. But craigslist does have a good vehicles on sale as well and I always check out craigslust for anything.

I think it's better to go to a dealer, that way you  know the history of the car. I wouldn't go to CL.

No, no and no! There was recently a murder here in the Midwest, surrounding a Craigslist sell. Young college student-senseless.
You have to be very careful with who you are doing business with.
