I've never bought or sold anything on Craigslist.  It's interesting, to me that some people have ended up missing or murdered after responding to an ad.  Not a risk I'd be willing to take.  I sell and buy on eBay, instead.

Have a great day!

I have never bought anything off CL but my boyfriend has and when he went to go look at it he took myself and his brother with him. Recently someone in a town close to me was killed after he tried to sell his car on CL and I believe they were in a open area. Hopefully from now on people would go to a police station to buy/sell from CL.

Craigs List is bad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!    I would not buy anything from it.  Don't trust anything or anyone on there.  You may wind up Dead.

In my area several of the Police Stations have offered their lobbies for people to make Craigslist transactions, in this day and age I would only use that option when dealing with someone off CL

lol.  That is odd.  Our police station would never do that.  I could just see the reaction if anybody suggested they do something like that.

It's now being on the Craigslist safety section to meet at police stations for more expensive purchases.  I know some smaller stations might have a problem doing it in the lobby but wouldn't have an issue using the parking lot.

After learning about the Craigslist murderer (the moron located his victim(s) on the website and later killed them), I have been conditioned to stay as far away from that website as possible. I mean, the same could have occurred on eBay or Amazon as well, but when something catastrophic like this occurs, I generally shy away from them. So, to answer your question, no I do not trust car offerings on Craigslist, LOL.

Besides, when I am purchasing something as large as a vehicle, I like to purchase them from a reputable place such as a car dealership (not to say that some of them aren't swindlers, but I digress).

Most police stations are not going to get involved in yard sales.  And it's basically the same thing.
They would tell you to go somewhere public like Walmart parking lot.  I heard where that guy that had been missing but his car was found (after a deal on Craiglist) that they had found the guy dead.

I guess if you meet there but I don't think the police have time to be a part of the exchange or to be a witness.

Actually it is not likely to occur on ebay or amazon.  You do not meet in person to buy things on ebay or amazon.  It's shipped to your home.  I guess if you are dealing with a physco they have your home address and can come kill you if they want.  I don't buy things from Amazon unless they are sold and shipped by amazon.

I have heard so many bad things about craigslist, I don't think I would trust meeting anyone who was selling something on craigslist.

I would be afraid to buy anything from craigslist anymore as much crime that is happening from there. Everything from scams to murder!

I wouldn't trust Craig's List for something like cars. Smaller items, maybe. But I'll never forget when my grandmother was moving and we put some of her furniture up for sale on CL, we got the weirdest calls from the craziest people. Ultimately, we wound up pulling the ads just because we couldn't find a decent person to do business with.
