Have You Ever been In a Fist Fight?

The reason I am asking this incredibly random question is recently some of my friends have been getting in some fist confrontations so to say hahah.  I personally don't see the point in this but apparently those near and dear to me believe in doing so every now and then!  I tend to be a very peaceful guy but you never know when a situation will come up when you have to defend yourself, and I can even acknowledge this!

When I was a teenager, maybe 14, a girl came over my house trying to 'fight' me. That was the only time something like that happened thank godness b/c I was never the fighting type. Always have been described as timid and too nice.

A fist fight is something I have never encountered and hope never to be in this situation.

I've been in fights before, but the both of us were not very serious to really harm to each other. I think there is a lot of restraint, especially when you know the other person and you worry about consequences. If put in harm's way, I wonder if I would really not hold back or cower.

I've never experienced that or know anyone who has done that. I'm a pretty easy going person so I think it would take a LOT for me to engage in anything like that. I don't like confrontation.

When I was little; I used to get in  fist fights  so often. Most of the time, I was just playing fist fight.

Yup, been there, done that.  I, too, am not a confrontational person but, being where I was born and raised (NY), I was taught to stand up for myself should that time ever come and it did!  I would never dream of striking another person, unless, of course, they raised their hands first.  When that day came, they didn't walk away without a very large gash on their face due to me punching them in the puss.  The funniest part about that fight was that there were a couple of guys in a truck next to mine who watched the entire thing go down.  I had such a hold on this chick that she couldn't get away and there were three of my male friends trying to pry us apart and they couldn't, LOL.  While this girls friends were scratching at me, I was using my fists, as taught.  In the end, the guys who watched what happened came out of their truck and said, "WOW, you fight like you're from New York!"  I laughed and told them that I WAS, hahahaha!  Great time!

We all feel the need to prepare ourself in case we encounter a situation above our control. But I haven't had the need for a fist fight in along time and certainly not looking forward to one.

That question made me think about my one and only fight in my life, many years ago when I was in elementary school.  I must have been about 9 or 10.  I remember this girl who was tomboyish and  larger than most of us and used pick fights.  I was always meek and mild and a rather sickly type.  The girl started picking on my younger sister and I got mad.  I lit into her and we really fought.  I could not believe I was actually doing that.  I think I must have held my own because I remember when the fight was over, I sat down on the sidewalk and was breathing really hard.  I didn't know then that I had rheumatic fever and later on I spent 6 months in bed, too sick to even get up.  But I didn't want that girl to hurt my sister.

I've never done it personally. Not because of some amazing self restraint, but because the situation never presented itself (and hopefully never will).

I grew up in a big urban area, though, so I've seen plenty. When there's a lot of people and a lot of conflict, things happen!
