If you were receiving texts from a wrong number would you text the person back and tell them they had the wrong number or just ignore them?

I have actually done both... Usually i will text them back and say they have the wrong number because heaven only knows who they think they are talking to and how much they talk.. I don't know about you but i don't want a random number texting me all day long... It usually results in them texting back once more and saying sorry.... When i have ignored the text it either goes one way or the other.. Sometimes it results in no text backs and on the other hand like i said before it can result in them texting you more and more..
I find it alot easier to just say look you got the wrong number..
Then again i have unlimited messaging.. Not sure about your case.. but either way i would probably have the same outcome.

I would most certainly put an end to wrong number texting as soon as possible.  First of all, I'm not at all a phone person, either talking or texting.  I use my phone sparingly and have no time for other people's business.

I would text them and tell them they have wrong number.  If they continue to text after that, I would block their number.

Yes, I would want to know that I texted the wrong person just in case I was expecting a response from that person. I think it's the right thing to do.

I don't text, but think I would let the person know.  I would want someone to let me know if I was the sender.

I typically say that they have the wrong number, then I block them. I'm glad that the newer phones have the option of blocking them directly from the text message! :D

I have let people know that they have texted the wrong person.  One person texted back and thanked me for letting them know but another person never did.

I kept getting a text from a Pediatric Dentist's office reminding me of my son's appointment.   They had the wrong number.  I didn't bother letting them know at first.   Then I got another one saying they needed to reschedule an appointment for my son and asked that I call them.   That one I decided to look them up online and sent and email explaining the situation.  They emailed back and were very nice about it, thanking me and telling me if I were in the market for a dentist they would be happy to see me in one of their other practices (for adults), even offering me a free cleaning.    No need to take them up on the offer but I felt good about letting them know.    That's the only text that I remember receiving in error.

I am not sure.  It depends on if I know the person or not.  Have a good week.

I would text them back and tell them that I am sorry but you have the wrong number. If you ignore they will continue to keep texting, but then again you can always block if that happens.

The first text came several days ago at about 2:30 in the morning.  I know this because she said "this is xxx and it's 2:30 AM"  and then I got 2 or 3 more telling me she was "literally" dying and needed drugs.  I did not respond to any of them.  I actually did not see them for a couple of days.  I usually do not respond to a wrong number text.  I have a couple of times.  I had one guy that texts me randomly and always says the exact same thing.  I text back and say you have the wrong number and he texts back "oh sorry sir".  After about 3 times I quit responding.  I always remembered because of what the first text said although right now I don't remember what it was.

I had a doctor's office calling MY landline years ago and leaving personal health info on my answering machine for some man I did not know.  Even after I called them they said this is the number he gave us.  I told them I had had the number for over 10 years and it was not his number and that seeing as they have the info that they are calling the wrong number and I know more about his personal health that I ever wanted to know and they could be sued for continuing the call and leave that info on my machine...yeah this stopped the calls.  Oh and when they called they also said hey xxx stating his full name so I knew exactly who he was as well as info I did not need.

I also do not see it as a "right" or "wrong" thing to do as to whether or not you answer the text.  If someone texts MY cell phone and THEY have the wrong number and it is clearly not a message for me I don't see it as doing the wrong thing by not answering them telling them they have the wrong number.  People need to pay attention to what they are doing.
