No audio on youtube!?

Dear friends,

I wanted to watch and listen to a video on youtube tonight but there was no audio! The video played fine but without being able to hear it too made me lose my interest. It's not my speakers because I was able to see and listen to a video here on FC and I tried things out on another site I use and everything ran okay there too! Anyone else not getting audio on youtube or is it something else that's possibly the problem? Hopefully things will return to normal soon, it just strikes me as odd as this is the first time I've had trouble with youtube.

I cannot say for all scenarios, but on some videos, I remember that the audio was muted due to copyright on the used audio, such as licensed music. I haven't seen such issues recently, but maybe it's just based on the content I'm looking at the time.

I agree, it's probably a copyright issue. It's annoying when that happens.

It is an copyright issue, so they removed the audio.

It's copyright.  I used to upload videos I took at events.  Sometimes I would get a notice that due to copyright, they will just note it as such and that's it.  For some songs though, it will get muted altogether.

If it's a copyright issue, YouTube usually tells you that.  Make sure your plugins are up-to-date.  If you use Firefox, open your "Add-ons," on the left hand side, click on "Plugins," once there, at the top of page there's a link that reads "Check to see if your plugins are up to date."  Click that and it will open a page that checks all of your plugins.  If any need updating, you can do it from there.

I haven't had that happen to me of late, however, I do remember a time or two where I could not fine the volume on Youtube to save my life. 

I probably spent the entire time frame of the video hovering here and there looking to undo the mute button. I don't even remember what the video was about; only that I could not hear it.  And, yes, I too lost interest in what ever I was looking for.  lol

Sometimes it's your computer, sometimes it's youtube. It's hard to know. i have issues with it sometimes too.

Lots of great tips and ideas, thanks! I just checked youtube a minute ago and thought I should see if the volume was muted, it was. How that happened, I haven't the foggiest idea! Glad it wasn't a copyright issue, there are so many cool music vids on there and it would be a bummer if I was unable to enjoy them anymore. I'm glad it's not my plugins, I hate having to finagle with computer stuff and updates always take soooo long! Problem solved and I'm happy I can cross that off my list, thanks again friends, I appreciate all of your help!
