Auctions And Yardsales
« on: June 12, 2015, 08:40:21 am »
I Found that going to auctions and yardsales you can buy second hand or close to new things at a very good price. one I got an entertainment center for $1.00. it was a great investment and I didn't have to assemble it.

I'm always looking things over at yard sales and auctions too. I look for things I can repurpose to fit my needs.

We visit a lot of yard sales, I only look for items I can use in my arts and crafts, once in a while I will spot a new piece of clothing that I buy Hubby on the other hand is always on the look out for fishing items. He has bought some great antiques.  Once in a while I will go with him to an auction. But it is not the same for him since my son passed. They were auction junkies together having a ball. But oh lord they brought home so much junk. I know he misses my son as much as I do.

I have had a few yard sales and they drain every ounce of sweat out of you! LOL... I rather shop at the yard sales. Auctions I do on eBay. Nice to make a quick buck.

They are a great place to get deals and I would like to go to them a lot more often.  I just don't have money to be spending though whether I am getting a deal or not.

Must actively hunt for it (which I don't do). Most people don't bother selling their stuff in my area, they would rather prefer selling on ebay... I know my mother and her neighbors do monthly yard sale

I love auctions. I used to go to yard sales but I think people in my area are pricing their stuff way too high, I guess because of the economy. I don't go much anymore

We are going to do a yard sale soon. It is fun and a great way to pass on all your things.

I like yard / garage sales, although I tend to find so many that have mostly baby items for sale (worthless for a childless, single adult). I also dislike that most all of the sales start on Friday morning, so once I get off work and can hit some of the sales, many of the items are already picked over. It's even worse when they close their sale (for the day) in the early afternoon, so even after work I wouldn't be able to hit the sale until the next day.

A few years ago, I was garage sale hunting, and I came across an estate auction. I decided to stay and see how low items were selling for. I ended up staying for the very end, ditching any more garage sales in place of this. From that auction, I was able to get many pieces of furniture (much needed since I had just bought my house, and moving from an apartment, I didn't have much). I also got a full China set for less than $100; when I got home, I checked on-line and even the dinner plates alone were $15 a piece, and I had 12 full settings.

I hear you! I have only recently discovered auctions, in fact I went to my first one just a few weeks ago and was amazed at the deals on offer. Really useful things were going for just a couple of bucks and there were even some quad bikes and a boat going under the hammer. After everything was sold, the house itself was auctioned off. I have never seen anything like it, it was super crazy but a day to remember.
