does that ring a bell?
« on: June 21, 2015, 07:44:50 am »
a high school classmate found me on FB after 40 years.
Back then, there were three boys who bullied me and called me names because of my handicap. This classmate defended me at the time. I don't remember him. When you are in a big class, there are some fellow students you'll never get to know. When I did have my yearbook, I didn't know each face.
We had a big music class freshman were required to take. He must have been in that group. There were about 70 students, if not more. We had bleacher seats with fold up trays attached. I can't remember exactly. The school has to be creative to accommodate a large number of students.

I did have a group of friends from grammar school. I went to them for support. Sometimes, you're lucky to have friends follow you to the next level of education. There was another student who had a handicap. He was a man. He would thrash back at the bullies and it usually did him no good.

Ah, yes, the dreaded school days.  I don't miss them one bit.  Going back, I remember one of the teachers telling me that I would really miss school.  She was confident that she was right.   ::)

I guess I'm going to have to give her big fat 'F' because she was so wrong.  :bad:

The truth is, I like an environment where there is a genuine education going on.  My school was good at that aspect.

But as far as the whole big picture is concerned, the the idiot, insecure bullies and other not so fond memories - NO THANKS.  I don't miss it one bit.

Even though I was an honor student, I have moved on with my life.  :)

It seems odd to me because almost every single person you talk to claims they were bullied in school.  Even the popular ones who actually did bully others.

I think if someone defended me against bullies I would remember them. lol

I graduated 31 years ago, I was from a small town. Our classes averaged about 100 people. I don't think we really had really bad bullies. Some people picked on some and then they were picked on, it was just a circle, but nothing like it is today. I don't live in my hometown, but I have about 400 facebook friends that are from there. I guess because it was such a small town everyone pretty much knew everyone and there was never any bad bullying or one dad would call the other dad and nobody wanted that. LOL
