That's funny. Some states have banned and repealed common law marriages between a man and a women, but now states are required to recognize same sex marriage.

I agree... It is not a right for people of opposite sexes to marry, but now it is a right for homosexuals. I'm just waiting for the fireworks when some couple sues the Catholic church for refusing to grant a same-sex marriage. But guessing how the court will decide based on the last few decisions, we can probably say goodbye to organized religion...

Watch and see now the same sex marriages will pay higher in taxes. Love my country but hate the people in charge of it.

They can't sue the catholic church for refusing to grant them a same sex marriage.  The church doesn't grant you marriage anyway.  The church doesn't give you the license or okay the marriage.  Not sure how it will pan out when the qu eers ask a preacher to marry them and he refuses.  I don't think there is any way he could be forced to do so.

It is not something I believe in, so don't  cram it down my throat. But then I also do not believe in abortion, I think it is murder. I do not understand what is happening to our nation. all I know is it is  being torn apart .  and destroyed within because of all the haters and race baiters and dissent of the blacks and muslims. No one is happy unless they are stirring up trouble. Of course  some of our congress and offices of the government are adding fuel to the fire.

WOW. I believe that it's a free country and anyone should be able to what they want as long as it doesn't affect others. We get to choose the food we eat, what we drive etc why not let people marry who they love.

I believe people should be able to marry and be with whom they choose to love. Its their choose. I mean why not. A lot of those couples have been together for a very long time. One couple said on TV they were together 30 yes. I say why not

Yep interesting - I don't agree with same sex marriage and don't mind saying I don't because I guess I'm like everyone else entitled to their opinion................but I guess it is what is is and looks like nothing my opinion can do about it.  I guess that means same sex folks have to fork out for a divorce like other people now right?

I don't understand the attraction to the same sex.they were born that way i suppose. now i may think a girl is cute but never wanted to kiss a girl. So not like the song I kissed a girl and i liked it" not for me. i guess its fine live and let live.

I have a hard time answering this.  I honestly don't understand the attraction to the same sex, I have two girlfriends who I love with all my heart, but am I physically attracted to either, no!  But on the other hand, who am I to judge what's right or wrong for other people.  I guess bottom line, it doesn't affect me in any way, so to each their own, if you want to marry you should have the legal right to do so.

It's a topic I really don't feel like discussing much on a thread, but I'll just say that we should respect the decision and that there are other important issues that we should be discussing/solving

According to the bible homosexuality is wrong but with that said it doesn't mean I hate homosexuals.  We are to above all love - my brother is homosexual.  I don't like it and I don't agree with it but I still love him and show him love.  Well I would if we weren't estranged but that has nothing to do with homosexuality.  It has to do with him and my sister trying to take all my mom's money when sick with cancer.  Oh well and I still love both of them.
