Laptop suggestions?
« on: July 04, 2015, 07:42:53 pm »
I'm looking for a decent laptop. Not too expensive, nothing too fancy. I don't know much about computers and I haven't used one in years since I bought my first iphone. So I don't really know what the latest deal with them are. I am also looking into maybe studying real estate so I would need it for school too obviously if I end up getting into it. Thanks in advance  :)

I have had a hp for a couple of years and I have never had problems with it. it is whatever your preference or how much you want to spend.

I'm not really sure what brands are currently recommended. Or even what price range they go for anymore. Last time I had a laptop was 8 years ago and it was for my whole family. Noones used it in 5. I may ask my mom if I can just have that until I get myself one, it's probably really outdated though.
I hate electronics I can't keep up with them they always have something new.

I have had three different laptops.  I had a Compaq, a HP, and now I have a Toshiba.  I bought the Toshiba from Wal-Mart for less than $300 and it has been a good computer.

I think sometimes you can find someone thats reputable because they collect and fix them and they might sell them for as low as $50.

I bought mine from a person that my friend knew and he charges $85 for good ones.

Just a thought.Like getting lucky buying a used car and having good fortune with it.

I have been playing with the idea of getting a laptop.  Then I can be doing more on fusion cash when hubby is on the desktop and enjoyed what others have had to say about them. I was playing with the idea of buying a used one from a good *bleep* shop. Any ideas on that?

I'm on a Mac, but you probably don't want to go that expensive.  (Got it with my inheritance.)

I've heard lots of bad things about Windows 8.  Our local tech guru comes on the morning show and tells people no to get it.  He sells computers with Windows 7.

Do you have a Best Buy in your area?  Try going there, talking to the techs and trying out different brands and models.  You'll get a better idea of what's out there.  Go home and think about it, sleep on it.  Once you've picked one shop around for the best price.

You're right, your old family computer is probably outdated.  The old processors can't accept all the new software updates, like Flash Player, which you use to watch videos here.  If you have a reputable computer shop they may be able to upgrade it for you.  It's worth asking.  Questions are free.

I'm looking for a new one as well.  Either an Acer or Asus.  I don't need anything fancy other decent ram/memory, good hard drive enough USB ports.
