Being Independent

It's been years since I lived in a place where I had no air conditioning.  I'm currently renting and apartment that has NO AC.

I made a decision to spend $300 on a 10,000 BTU Portable air conditioner last month.  When it arrived I pulled the 65 lb. unit up a flight of stairs and installed it in one of my bedrooms.

I love being able to do a lot of different things for myself.

I do; however, need help with things like replacing batteries in smoke alarms because I'm too short.

In what ways are you independent?  What do you need help with?

Even though I am married, I rely on NO ONE! The only thing my husband does is fix my truck. I usually can do it all as my family calls me the jack of all trades! LOL! But it's good to be independent, so I applaud you!

being independent is fantastic! I try as much as i can by myself . I have a slight physical disability which makes things interesting at times. one I am short and have balance issues. carrying things and sometimes walking I need help with.
2 last things  one no one can do everything and second I was always taught to help others whenever possible.

I am pretty much independent too.  I think it's because my dad was killed when I was little, I had no brothers, so my mom, sister, and I learned to do a lot of things ourself.

I can be more independent, but why when I have my husband to do it for me.  I can be.

When I was younger I could do those things too, but time takes a toil. Enjoy it and take care of your health.

I wish I was more independent.  I got married really young and never lived on my own.

Due to health issues I am not very independent.  There is no way I could have accomplished what you did with the air conditioner.  I don't know how I am very independent any more I am realizing more each day how much I depended upon my husband who passed away and now my sons take care of me for the most part.  Oh well one can only do what one can do.

I'm pretty independent especially with having kids. But when it comes to cars I need help with that a lot of the time because I honestly don't know how to change the oil in my car

I'm married and I ask for things from my wife. I can take care of myself mostly but its nice to have support from someone.

congrats on being able to do so much on your own! i would love to be able to but am pretty much stuck here since i don't have a job of my own and couldnt make as much as my husband does to support myself, my mom and my son...

I'm fairly independent to. I don't have a car but won't rely on someone for a ride so I use public transit a lot and it has seemed to work well so far.

I used to be so independent it was scary.  But now I am not and sometimes it bugs the heck out of me. Hubby all of a sudden seems to think I can not go or do anything by my self. And it does get a little touchy around here. Guess I have to live with it. But once in a while I get a wild hair  and decide that I need to go to town and have a lot of running to do and he does not really want to go, but since he is the one that doesn't want to go by my slef he has to get up and go. I take my time in whatever I do. Hehhehh ,.

I consider myself pretty independent when it comes to basic surviving skills and general things around the house and bills. The only thing I would probably need help is if my car brakes down or something major breaks in my house, things like that.
