Work Shift

Would you prefer to work a straight 8am to 5pm shift or  a evening shift?

I worked in education, so my hours were 7am to 3pm.

I use to work from 7 at night to 7 in the morning. Good money but no life and no time to do anything. It can get quite depressing. >:(

I work part time, around 30-35 hours. Most days I work 3PM-9 or 10ish. On Fridays and some Saturdays I work 9AM to around 7 or 8ish. I hate getting up on Fridays. I definitely prefer my afternoon schedule. Not a morning person.

I'm a stay at home mom right now, but I'd prefer night/weekend work when I did work. But I was also a waitress and that's where the money's at. I really wanna work again but I don't wanna leave my daughter with anyone other then my fiancé or mom. But my fiancé works weird hours and my mom lives 3 hours away

I work the standard 9 AM to 5 PM job, and I am completely satisfied with that. I am not a night person (and neither is my body, LOL). So I prefer the day shift. :-)

Do you atleast get paid more for night work as a lot of places do?

I used to work 9 am to 5 pm and that shift worked out just great for me. My employer let me run to my children's school to pick up the kids if they were ever sick and my older daughter was able to prepare the evening meal for the family before I got home from work. Now the kids are all grown, I am retired and have no schedule whatsoever which is even better.

How about 8-4.  Or work from home and set my own hours. :D

I've often joked that I'm a night owl with an early bird's schedule. Right now we have a fairly early 1st shift (most of the people start at 7am) so that they're at work while the kids are at school. But I have never liked our schedule at all. When I was in college, I had a 2nd shift job that I loved: it was 2pm to 10:30pm with the ability to "flex" your time (eg work an extra hour for 4 days and only 4-hours on the 5th work day of the week), so I was still able to join my friends on the weekend when they were going out to party.

I always preferred the 8-5 shift because that way I had the entire evening to myself.
