I never took my bunnies to a vet. They require very little. A large cage like a dog cage with panels if you plan to keep it in the house gives it room to jump around. Outside a hutch off the ground is best. The Internet can provide you with plans or places to purchase one already made. They need a water bottle to drink from. My rabbit only knew how to drink from a feeder bottle. Mine liked treat food you find at any store(Walmart) I also had a salt wheel for her. She had hay for the inside of her cage. Alfalfa is too rich for them to eat much of. Diaherra. Fresh grass from your yard is good for them. Also fruit and veggie peels. You will find out what it likes by trial and error. Apples and  carrot tops are favorites. If you handle them from a young age, your rabbit will be less panicy. When holding, always hold their feet. They feel more secure that way. Good Luck!

I had a bunny for a short period of time when I was in college. They don't do much and they poop A LOT. I do not remember much else.

I bought one for my cousins little granddaughter. She and her mother lived with me for awhile until she got on her feet.  The baby was  allergic to dogs and cats. When we would be at work or at night when we went to bed I put her in a baby's playpen where she would have lots of room to play.  We always put a little harness on her for cats when we went outside. She loved to take walks.  I also bunny proofed my small back yard so she could not get out but could play in the grass. They make great pets.

Thanks all... so far it sounds like i dont need to get medical insurance like how we get for us (people) to go to the vet. After all most of you said rabbits never needed a visit to vet.

ok... I think am going to buy, I had one before not here in US though. so inside the house yes i agree they poop a lot. they eat very little compare to Dogs and some cats.

I love the idea of taking the rabbit for a walk :-)

I don't think pets have insurance, so I am pretty sure you don't need one. From this site it list the food you should avoid feeding the rabbit http://www.rabbitmatters.com/notfeed.html... Hay, fiber, and no lettuce. I from my friends that bunnies are kinda of stinky mainly because of their urine. To reduce them from spraying, neutering or spaying them is an option

I have a pet bunny...he is low maintenance... and like any other pet ... He's cute ,fuzzy and keeps us company...we try to keep him happy ...but we won't blow money on him ...I think Pet insurance silly...I can't even afford that for myself

Speaking from my own experience...

They are adorable.
They poop everywhere even if you litter train them. Expect little pellets all over the house as they hop around. The poop isn't smelly thought, just something you have to clean up all the time.

Some bunnies are chewers. I had one that chewed all of the baseboards and all electrical cords. It was awful.

They dont make OTC flea meds for them and you cant just use cant or dog products, it can kill them. So if it has fleas at any point, you will need to take it to a vet who sees rabbits.

Those are a few of the things i remember from having bunnies.
