Fort Knox vs. Daily Email
« on: July 14, 2015, 07:18:12 am »
Good morning FC,

Yesterday my husband and I decided it was time to 'beef up the security' on our computer systems.  We have a great set up as it is but extra measures will never hurt.

We contacted our support team.  They in turn walked us through the process of upgrading security and downloading highly recommended software.

So, today, when I attempt to complete my daily email, the ad won't load.  Well this has never happened before.   ???

I tried refreshing, I completed my ptc and came to the forum.  When I tried the daily email again, the same thing happened - the ad won't load.   :confused1:

After a few sips of coffee, I figured it out.  Ad blocker.  I opened the drop box, asked that it not be run on this page and VOILA.

My conclusion is that coffee, at times, can turn the average Joe ( or Josephine ) into a genius.  O.K., at least it can clear the cobwebs.

I have never had this much security on my system so it will take a little getting used to.  Let the learning curve begin.   :silly:

My adblocker only prevents things from one advertiser. I don't know what it is about that one but luckily it only comes up rarely so I don't have to keep disabling my program

It's hard to figure out what level of ad protection you are going to get.  Probably the only way to learn is to download and see how it operates for your sites.

I don't know if your set up is the same but I have an icon on the front page of my browser.  This makes it very easy to open the drop box to make the needed adjustments.

I go round and round with my technology trying to understand the simplest of tasks.  Little did I know that more coffee was the answer!!!  Congrats on getting your problem solved!

Thanks.  I certainly know what you mean.  Technology can wreak havoc on one's mental and emotional balance.  But for those of us who occasionally pull our hair out, we don't seem to have any problems returning to our electronic gadgets.   :confused1:

lol, nah, you'll do just fine with tea, orange juice, or preferably a protein shake.  If none of that sounds appealing, try a brisk walk or about 15 minutes on the stationary bike.

All of the above works great for me.   ;D

All these security features can be quite frustrating. I don't have adblocker, because you're supposed to turn it off anyway when you do PTC/ GPT sites, since they get their money from advertisers.

Yeah, I do my daily email regularly as well.  The dual between the daily email and ad blocker was not a dual that I decided to create.  It came about because I added to the security of my system and the battle between loading my email and my new ad blocker began.  I didn't know that there was going to be a need to adjust.  Fortunately, it's barely and issue at all anymore.  I guess I got over the learning curve.

:) I get frustrated over the security on my PC too. However, not as nearly frustrated as having the PC hacked. Glad you finally figured it out. :)

Agreed and thank you.  I really don't mind learning curves on my end as long as they can be learned.  lol.  What I don't have any tolerance for are the unpleasant surprises by those who have nothing better to do than to turn the world upside down for others.   >:(
