Uh no.  Most states you have to have a carry permit.  And there are places like federal buildings, court houses, the post office, and others where you are not allowed to have a gun.  And them having guns would not have mattered.  The shooter was in a moving car.  Besides that at least one of them did have a gun and fired back.  HE is in trouble because HE had a gun where he was not suppose to have one.  Which he should be.  The law is the law.  Just because you don't agree doesn't mean you can break the law and it be okay.  Anyway, the military guy who had a gun and fired back did not do anything to protect anyone because he didn't hit the guy that shot at them.  So having a gun didn't make any difference.
