Are you nervous about going to movie theaters? Should security be changed?

I agree, you can not just stop living.   But I do try to be as cautious as possible.

I fully expect metal detectors in theaters now.  :P They're everywhere.

I don't believe you can reasonably expect to be completely safe wherever you are, whether it's on an airplane, in a movie theater or in your bed. Why limit your life because there are crazies out there?

Besides, it it's your time to go, it's your time to go.  :angel11:

I agree, you cannot just stop doing everything.  In some countries these things happen on the busses and trains, you have to go to work.

It is something I think about when I go to the movies nowadays, but it doesn't prevent me from going. In reality, this could happen anywhere at anytime. It's really sad. As for security, I do expect metal detectors to be placed at movie theaters in the future.

I think that would not be a bad idea.  It's kind of scary now to go outside.

You cannot stop the mentally ill no matter what but I do wonder how he managed to acquire guns since he was known to be mentally ill for years, even though he did buy it in Alabama not Louisiana.  A background check should have picked up on his mental problems.

I do not believe that all these people who do this stuff are mentally ill.  It is just a cop out.  An excuse used.  People know they can do whatever they want and then cry they were temporarily insane or claim to be mental and get out of it.  And a background check does not have anything to do with medical.  All a background check does is check for arrests.

I never went to the theaters much ~ never could justify spending that much money to see it once when I can wait a few months and own it on DVD.  However, I am not scared to go to the movies or church for that matter.  You are just as vulnerable any where you are if there is someone out there that is intent on causing harm to others.  In the event I do encounter "difficulties", I am licensed to carry a concealed weapon and I do carry a pistol with me in my purse wherever I go.
Have a wonderful day!

If there is security in the movie theater, there should be where you walk in through a scanner and security check your pocket book or wallets for any illegal weapon.  The theaters in my state has high tech security.

Most people are not going to go to a theater if they have to be searched before they can enter.  I am not doing anything wrong but I will not be submitted to a search of my person nor my purse before going to see a movie.

At some point I fully expect to see enhanced security at all public places. It will take time and a LOT of money to get done. And of course this will raise the costs of things like going to the movies. It's sad that the world has become like this.

I think it's sad that people can't go out and enjoy their nights because of disturbed people that can get guns. It'll come down to every place having a metal detector, movies, malls, supermarkets. It's ridiculous. A lot  of other countries don't have these kinds of issues and I think we need to look into that
