Would You Date A Smoker?
« on: July 26, 2015, 02:11:41 pm »
Before you call me mean for saying this, I have dated a smoker before lol, and we didn't breakup because of her smoking 4-5 ciggs a day.  But I do have to say it wasn't necessarily a trait that I liked per say.  Also, I read a study saying that couples who smoke weed together are overall happier on average, and have less arguments!  I think stuff like that is very interesting.  As far as the dating a cigarette smoker, I'm not going to say it is not a deal breaker, but I'd rather not date a girl who just had a cigg in her mouth.   :peace: :)

Nope, never have and never will. My mother and father didn't smoke and my husband doesn't smoke or drink. I guess I've been so used to not being around it that once I encounter it, I can't stand it. It's annoying when the smell gets in my clothes.

tobacco smoke makes it difficult to breathe so my answer to that would be no.

NO I would not. I am allergic to smoke. I am married but I sure hope my sons will keep healthy and not smoke. I have been hearing so many more negatives than pluses on that one. I sure hope if anyone smokes , that you will be able to quit so you can live a much longer life :-)  I hear trying to quit is so hard. Good luck to those who are trying

I am in agreement with the NAYS.  My then girlfriend/now wife was an ex-smoker when we began dating and I can safely say that we probably wouldn't have started dating if she was still a smoker at that time.  Needless to say, I am thankful that she quit prior to meeting me, because I would have missed out on a lot!

My parents both were smokers when I was a kid.  I didn't like it, but I tolerated it. They both quit when I was in high school: Mom just because she wanted to; dad a few years later when he got the cancer diagnosis.  Thankfully he lived for another 25 years, but ultimately died from lung issues that the smoking contributed to.

I think a better question would be, "Would a smoker date ME?"  I'm a health nut, worked in a health profession, and have sat through many a continuing education course explaining the negative effect of cigarettes on the body. I cannot understand why a person would take the risk of smoking.  I'm afraid I'd be so freaked out about his health (and mine from second hand smoke) that he would not want to put up with my constant nagging.  Thank goodness I'm happily married to a non smoker.  BTW, we have an offer under the "New" section for anyone who needs help with trying to quit smoking.

No. You will get second hand smoke, which is worse than if you smoked yourself.

Definitely a dealbreaker for me. I do not want to feel like I am kissing an ash tray. In my search for The One, there were men that I was definitely interested in. But I had to pass on them because they smoked. I lived with an aunt for over 20 years, and her brother-in-law lived with us for some time. He smoked, and it was one of the most horrible experiences in my life. As much as I liked him, thank God that he decided to leave. I also had to deal with secondhand smoke as a child (because of a babysitter and her children, all of whom smoked).

I am lucky that my husband doesn't smoke.

smoking is one of the vices that people can have that I really can't stand.  I've seen my dad hack and smoke when I was a kid......can't understand why people start.  If they do and become addicted, I kow it is extremely hard to quit even when the person wants to.

I know I couldn't date a smoker. One I have difficulty breathing  around smoke But more importantly  besides the health issues for the smoker and others smoking is one of the worst habits one can have it is dirty smelly etc. :rainbow: :rose: :peace:
