Cecil the lion murdered!
« on: July 30, 2015, 10:49:01 pm »
How can some hunter mistake a lion with a collar as a wild lion! How do you call it sport when you use bait to lure him out!A real hunter doesn't use bait but uses tracking skillNow Cecile's cubs will be killed by the new alpha male lion! Such a waste murdering an innocent animal for cheap thrills! Punishment should fit the crime by getting shot by an arrow, shot by a gun, head chopped off, & skinned!

I wouldn't call it a waste. It provides food for the village, as well income for the local economy. These places are unbelievable poor, and couldn't care less about these lions. I've read that this was the 24th collared animal to be lured off of the reservation. It's a shame, but that's their reality.

I heard about this yesterday and it was really sad! They didn't even take his body. It sounded really gruesome. :(

This guy should be hunted himself, killed, beheaded and someone should mount his head on wood. He should have never killed that lion.

I understand that the dentist who killed this lion is now in hiding.  Ironic....that he might feel that he is now being hunted.  I also understand that he's blaming the guide.

At first, I initially stated that it was "just" a lion. I did not realize the value and respect that Cecil imparted on the Zimbabwe/African community. Furthermore, the story that the dentist is putting out over the circumstances leading to Cecil's murder (let us call it as it is) are hogwash! He and his cohorts knowingly lured Cecil out of his reservation for the purposes of circumventing the laws that protected lions. Cecil had a collar around his neck (for migratory/research purposes). How someone could not see that large a contraption around an animal's neck is beyond my realm of comprehension. Morever, after immobilizing Cecil, he subsequently went up to the downed lion and put him out of his misery. WTH?! That man (an embarrassment to the United States) and his compatriots need to be arrested immediately.

"Cecil" is the name the group of Oxford researchers gave him. The Zimbabwe/African community has no clue who "Cecil" is and really don't care. In that part of the world, lions kill humans, humans kill lions, it's just they way things are.

Cecil was not killed for food.  Besides that I have never heard of anyone eating a lion.  The worthless pos that killed the lion didn't live in the "village".  He was a dentist that had plenty of money and hunts animals for sport.

I don't agree with hunting for sport at all. I find it sadistic and cruel and I don't trust anyone who does it. Hunting for food hide and other materials I can understand but endangered species need to be protected.

There's real hunting and then there's the kind where the animal is lured in to be killed.  That is not real hunting, it's just killing for the sake of killing.

Cecil was actually the last pure-breed black maned lion. As of right now, there is only one other in a zoo, however, isn't reproducing.

I never said he was part of the village. The hunter pays money to hunt the animal, when it is killed, the meat of the animal is given back to the local village. Lions, Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Leopards, etc., the local villagers eat them all.

Here's some photos of the local villagers taking the meat from an elephant. Warning: some pictures are graphic.
