I have an electric stove. Too scared to have a gas stove. Call me paranoid  ::) but I am kinda like that character Aunt Josephine, from the movie Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events! LOL I think if I had a gas stove it would explode and kill me.  :o :confused1:
Everything in my house is electric and I am thankful!

Electric range is what I have now ever since I first moved out of my parents home to go on my own.

I have gas and preferred to electric, I have cooked on both and the gas for me is easier, I understand that the new models of electric are very good but I still prefer gas, I have bought to houses in my life, from builders and have made sure to get them to give me gas stove,  I do not have cats but that is a good point.

Might as well go electric, never know when you won't be able to afford the electric bill.

I prefer "an electric stove" because a gas one can explode and start a serious fire.

I have an electric stove and prefer it over gas. I am not a huge fan of gas because it is expensive and the gas flame scares me as well.

I have an electric smooth top stove. I know gas is better and cooks more evenly but I have never really liked it.

I prefer electric always, gas stoves scare me, too easy to bump a *bleep* and turn the gas on

I have had gas and I have had electric.   I feel that gas is head and shoulders above electric.  Every unit that I have had heats and cools quicker.  The electric you feel heat long after it says it is cool.  If a stove is hot and the cat jumps on it, I don't see why electric or gas would make a difference.
