Over The Line

A school resource officer handcuffed an 8 year old boy in Kentucky.   The student had a disability.  What are your thoughts? Did the officer overstep his boundaries?

I would have to know more of the story than what you stated here.  I need to know more of the circumstances in order to form any kind of opinion

Agreed.  There needs to be more detail to the story to decide if this was over the line or not. If the child posed a legitimate threat to himself or others (including the resource officer) my answer might be different than if the child was completely innocent of any bad behavior out of the ordinary.

I would also have to know more.  Even though he was young, people don't know how violent kids can be.  I have a very close friend who works at a school for 'emotionally and socially disturbed kids".  I hate to tell you the injuries she has had, a broken arm, kicked more times than can tell leaving bruises, punched, spit on, threatened.  So, I can understand perhaps why he was handcuffed even though in society he is still a 'baby'

I'm sure there is more to the story than this.  I'm not surprised much by what kids do now days.
Have a wonderful day!

The child wouldn't do what his teacher wanted. She sent him to the principals office. He tried to leave and the resource officer was called. He put the child in handcuffs, but because his wrists were too small, he put the handcuffs around his biceps, behind his back.

And yes, handcuffs on a child is over the line. If a parent did that to their child, CPS would be on them in a heartbeat.

I think there is more to the story and it's hard to say anything with out knowing all of the story. Sorry we need more information.
