Yeah it's crazy how b/c you pretty much have "community" supplies for those that can't afford it.
It's ridiculous!

Just another reason I home school! But, home school can also be expensive, depends on how many science experiments or field trips my son wants to take for our school year. I do understand the 24 glue sticks. I think my son alone, goes through that many glue sticks. He is creative and likes art. Little kids tend to really rub and press down on those glue sticks, wasting a lot of glue, but they are little and they have fun creating art and making crafts with those glue sticks, so it's worth it! LOL  :glasses-nerdy:

I don't understand why people get so upset about school supplies.  We always had a list of supplies and it was never a big deal to get them.  And nothing says you have to go buy everything new.  You can get pencils for free at your local bank.  Same with ink pens.

I can sort of see being upset about the clorox wipes or kleenex but at the same time parents expect this stuff to be available and the teachers can not afford to purchase it and keep it stocked for the kids to waste.

I don't agree with saying bring a big box of pencils to share with the class.  I wouldn't do that.  I would provide pencils for my child.  Again, you can get them for free if you cannot afford the 10 cents a box for the regular yellow pencils.

But most people complain about just normal supplies like paper, pencils, notebooks and the like.

I think people just like to complain.  And I know the cashiers get tired of hearing from every parent that comes thru how ridiculous they think the list of supplies is.  The cashier has nothing to do with it and doesn't deserve to have to listen to you fuss about it.  Just sayin.

I agree that some people complaints a lot, but at the same time it becomes really expensive when you have 2 or 3 kids going to different grades and the older they are the worse if is, the glue sticks you can buy them cheap or even like me get them from my work, but the High shcoolers are ask for 5 subject notebooks per class and sometimes the teachers want an specific kind, 5 subject notebooks x 7 classes it becomes too much, specially if you have 2 3 or 4 kifs

I don't see the issue to be honest. They can't hold a gun to your head. They're not going to refuse your grandbabies an education. It's not for the people who can't afford it. It's for the children of people who can't afford it.  Sometimes teachers just pay out of pocket for kids who can't afford supplies and they are already severely underpaid.

I was just happy that I the school had a set list that could be purchased my my son's grade level. This was done before summer vacation. When he goes back to school it will be ready for him when he arrives in class.

I don't pay any attention to a school supply lust. I just get the basics besides kids not gonna use all that is on a school supply their first week...I just go by what is really needed.
