Auction Profit
« on: September 03, 2015, 11:56:28 am »
Over the weekend, i went to an auction. i spent all of $3.00. i was out bid on everything else. i bought a few things and some  unwanted boxes for $.50. in one of those 3 boxes, were some self help books. i listed one on an auction site and it is currently selling for $1.00. I listed the 2nd book and it is currently selling for $3.22. still have a few more books to go but i say, with a $.50 purchase and a $3.00 day, i just paid for the auction and made profit with 2 items :highfive:

Every little bit helps! It's good when you can make your money back that fast, even if it isn't a lot.

Hubby and my late son were auction junkies, oh my Lord they would bring home a trailer of junk and  maybe only one item in it would they really want. Then I would have to have yard sales to get rid of junk. Made a lot of cash  off it. But it was work. One time my husband bought a storage  building. Bid $5.00 on it.  I washed up 16 loads of clothes. I had some nice things from it and so did the rest of the family. Then I  divided it up and too 5 large loads to the battered Women's shelter and then the rest too a thrift shop and donated it. The battered women shelter gave me a recipe for $500.00. Took it off my income taxes. Sometimes it pays to donate. A lot of the clothes still had the tags on them and had never been used.

it is the one that starts with an E. i wont ever write the name of a company down on any website that is not their own. i did that once with another website and got banned so i watch what i put down when in a forum.

I've heard of people doing a similar thing but with the stuff that they purchase at garage sales instead of at auctions.

Here it is allowed to list other sites, although there are a couple of caveats... You can't list a website / referral link in which you actually profit from it (this includes your personal site that in turn lists your referral links to other sites). Also, you cannot list anything that would hurt any of FC's advertisers. However it is perfectly fine to say something like "I read this article on growing beans" and to link to that article, or even to say how you like using PTC-Nation.com as long as you don't provide your referral link (or your userid for that site with which a person can then go to the site and enter it in as their referral). So in this case, it's fine to say that you are using Ebay to sell the items, but you cannot then add a link to your specific auction, nor list the exact book titles with which a person may easily search for on the site. Then again, using your self-imposed rule will guarantee that you won't run afoul of FC's own rules.
