my sister and I have not gotten along most of our lives.
we are both approaching 60. I  am a year older.
I know what it's like to be the one to apologize first even though the other person did wrong.
when she came here for a visit, we had a few fights, the last one a big one.
She acted as if nothing happened and I apologized to clear the air.
I whispered  " I don't know how to be your sister." I don't think she heard me.
I cried myself to sleep that night. I didn't tell her; I told mom and dad and they didn't say anything.
when you don't get along with someone, there is no magic to resolve things.
yes, forgiveness is not easy; it doesn't make the hurt go away, especially when sisters just can't get along.
Forgiveness is a big topic.

My older siblings have done some terrible and unimaginable things to me. Especially my older brother. I finally spoke to him for the first time in 6 years a few weeks ago. It was very hard. I will never trust him or forget all the things he has done to me but I can forgive, just takes some time.

Well I think it goes further than that because the Lord's prayer says "Forgive me as I forgive others".  Food for thought.

Forgiveness is sometimes hard depending on individual circumstances but I agree in the long run it is better for you both physically and emotionally

It's true, forgiveness is the key to moving forward with your life. People are always going to hurt you:wither with their words, actions, or both, but you must be the bigger person, and forgive them, and forgive yourself as well.

When someone hurt you pretty bad, it's hard for us to forgive them.  But I'll try as much I can only.

If we don't forgive, how can Jesus forgive us. He is teaching us forgiveness, by forgiving us and we should teach others by doing the same whether they accept it or not.

Sometimes it is so hard though especially when the person just did something to hurt you and the hurt is still fresh on your mind. I do try to forgive people but sometimes it takes me awhile to get over it

I forgive people those who deserves it, but not those murders.

Think about it, do you think the person you're finding it hard to forgive is losing sleep over you?
Forgiveness is for you not them, by forgiving you're releasing and refusing to replay that hurt in your mind and dampen your spirit. forgiveness does not mean that you have to put yourself back into the same position, it means
you're letting go of the hurt so you can heal.

Forgiving is hard, but you can stop thinking about those that offend you.
