Is Math Easy or Been Hard on/for You?

Math has always came easy to me. This new method that is being used is a big joke to me.

Math is definitely not my cup of tea. Struggled in school with it. I know enough to get by.

I'm sorry, the new math is a nuisance . If someone who has learned the old fashioned way, like grandma and paps supposed to helps the kids today. Things like math should not be changed because everyone won't be on the same page. Just another form of separation of people.

Math was always a subject that I've be very good at. I think it's because I tend to think very logically, so math, science, and technology (computers) have come very natural for me; and the subjects that may have both a logical side and an artistic / creative side, I tend to do better on the logical stuff (eg I was always great with grammar (since there were rules to follow), whereas reading comprehension wasn't quite as good (since some words may have had subtle connotations that didn't really fit a clear-cut rule).

I made good grades in math but no way do I understand the way the "new" math is taught.  It is just too ridiculous to me!  Why use half a dozen steps to get an answer you can get in 1 step?  We have a 7 year old granddaughter that I used to pick up from school everyday and help with her homework.  When she showed me how she was being taught to do math I couldn't believe it!  Crazy!!

No trouble whatsoever. I've heard stories that math classes are now teaching math a new way. Schools in Nebraska are now doing SIMPLE math this way...

I so would rather work with words than numbers.  The only math I could ever understand easily in school was algebra, because you could follow a formula.  If I had to do a word problem, I was out of luck.  Mrrangerrick's post above makes me very thankful that I don't have a children to help with their math homework.  I don't have a clue what was going on with that logic!

Math is not my strong suit,  was always a subject I hated in school (but then I never had a math teacher that was good)  on the flip side. I loved English and had the best English teachers.

I had seen a picture of the "new" math on Facebook and thought "that's nuts".  Than I read an article explaining the logic.  I have to say it did make sense,  basically it is how you would figure change from a purchase say you buy something that is $4.70 and you have a $20.  .30 makes $5.
Plus $5 more for $10 and $10 makes $20.  so .30, 5 and 10 =15.30

I can do basic math but when it comes to Algebra I'm lost.

Relatively easy for me I suppose but it definitely became harder in high school and college!

Math was always difficult for me. In college, math class was online and I failed it twice, but passed it the first time when an on campus class was created.

I hated math in school. Once I got to high school it got so confusing. I became so frustrated that I just gave up on it.
