When my cards are renewed, I get the chip card.  I am also getting use to it.

At first, I thought the chip card was going to be an inconvenience. But, considering the hacking disaster at Target (among other such events), they are worth it. Besides, it's only a few more seconds of simply inserting the card into the machine. Ironically, I received my updated travel card yesterday.

They'll figure out how to hack these as well. Don't kid yourself.  >:(

I haven't seen or used those slot reader things in the US yet but I travel for work to Canada sometimes and that's the only place I do that.  Here I just swipe the machine like I normally would.

With all the technology out there these days, it is probably better to have that now. Longer lines at stores though, hopefully they fix it soon.

I don't have credit cards, and I pay with cash at the stores. I don't believe they are any more secure. I think this is just an excuse to get people used to the chip. Soon, they will put the chip directly in people, so you don't even have to carry a card around. (According to Obamacare, chips for medical records will be installed in people in 2017, so for payment purposes probably won't be long after that.)

I used to pay cash at the store (and still do a lot of the time if I am going out to eat). However, I really hate keeping receipts and using my debit card for purchases is a great way to track purchases for returns our exchanges.

Other countries have been using this for a while now. We are only just catching up.

Well, my bank sent me a notice about 6 months ago, that I had used my debit card somewhere that was on an iffy situation for highjacking and they decided to replace my card for protection and send me the new which had a chip in it, I had not issues until I went to Target and they machine beep at me so they explained how to use it, it takes a little longer but I think is worth it.

My other credit card changed from a MC to a Visa and they send me a new one with the chip, I think that is the way for all of them now, which is fine with me

It makes it easier and doesnt mess your card up as quickly as regular old swiping did

We've been using that in Canada for a few years now.  It only takes a few extra seconds.

My new debit card has the security chip and I have not had any problems with it.

Yes, I have a few of them and was reluctant at 1st but it has better security features and less ware on the strip. I think it prevents people from copying the strip and or numbers to steal credit card info. Technology is a wonderful thing! :)
