October 16, National Feral Cat Day!
« on: October 16, 2015, 07:38:39 am »
I love my jc, I would hate if she became feral. My cat is not a nice colored cat, but a strong built she is my tank-girl. Her mother walked across the street to my house with this young kitten. It was like the mom cat gave me her kitten, they were hungry. It seemed the kitten wanted to stay, she took to me, seems she loves me truly. I named her JC. The mom cat left, I never seen her again. Remember the alley cats today. Have a gr8 day and I wish fusioncash bloggers nothing but happiness.   :present:

I managed to palm off a feral cat that was being taken care of a man near me who takes them off the streets to someone I love and trust .

She now is a great watch cat and a really neat cat to be around. Saving an animal from the streets is a good thing. Good for you and JC.   :star:  :star:

Great story!  I have several feral cats that live in the woods behind my house.
I put out food for them every day, can't stand the thought of them constantly
being hungry.  If any of them will come to me I try to find a home for it.
Makes me sad sometimes if I think about it too long. I try to focus on the positive.

Here, in Cedar City, Utah we have a problem with stray/feral cats.  My understanding is that a domestic cat has the potential to be a "pet", where a feral cat, will run away from people like a rodent would.

Personally, I believe ALL cats can be socialized if someone is willing to feed them and nurture a relationship with them.

It can be very difficult to watch these animals breed out of control and struggle to survive during a cold winter.  Also, the tom cats have a rough life because they deal with stud-to-stud combat.

I wish the Animal Shelter, here in Cedar City, would make an effort to deal with the stray/feral cat population.

Have a great day!

Cats can be great pets.  The one we rescued from the shelter was the most friendly.  As if she appreciated that we took her in.

I used to take care of over 40 feral cats in my old neighborhood.  Over the years, I had them spayed & neutered (took care of the girls first because let's face it, they're the baby makers).  I had many of them adopted out, any litters that were born were taken in by rescues, etc.  By the time I left the neighborhood, there were only 7 of these cats left and by then, the two girls had been spayed for years.  I passed the duties on to one of my neighbors.  I miss these cats very much and pray every day they're still being cared for.

Feral cats need love too! My family has adopted a few over the years. They sometimes need some time to adjust. One of them was a little stand off-ish for 7 or 8 months, but now she's one of the family!
