Personally, I don't like Discover and could care less how much they claim they give me.  And most any card has perks are rewards.  Not just Discover.  Some people would rather pay with cash and not have a trail tracking what they have purchased.  Even if a card offers perks or cash back it's still somewhat of a hassle.
I have known you to cynical before, but this takes the cake. Once you get the card, it's no more hassle than paying cash. In fact it's less, because you don't need to put away the change.

I have used Discover reward money for gifts for several years.  I have another card that rewards every purchase like Discover.  It is a great way to earn a little extra.

I'm not very disciplined, and I think for me a credit card would be a bad idea. I did apply for an Amazon credit card, because they have cash back on Amazon purchases (which I do a lot!) plus a $70 bonus for signing up, but they didn't accept me because I have no credit already. So I wonder if it would be the same thing for any credit card I try to get. How do they expect me to get credit if they won't approve me for a credit card?

Credit cards are not the only way to build credit.  Any type of loan that you pay off.  Having any bills in your name where you can show you pay on time.  Having a job showing you earn income.
I know people who have no credit cards, refuse to have a checking account, or anything in their name and then get mad when they want to buy something and are turned down because they have no established credit.  Unless you are 18 years old there is no reason you should not have some sort of credit history.  My first credit card was a gas card and I think the limit was $100.  I built up from there.  And I have excellent credit.

lol.  So I don't agree with you so I am wrong?  Yes it is more of a hassle.  My opinion.  If you pay with cash then that is it.  The end of it.  If you charge crap on credit cards then you have to make sure you get the payment made on time.  Make sure you don't forget to make the payment.

And what is the difference in putting away change and putting away the card?  MY OPINION is the cash back is not really worth it.  I have cards that I earn cash back on if I choose to use them.
To ME and a lot of other people it is not that big of a perk or a deal.

Yes even!  I have 3 other cards that I earn cash back on. Or points or something.  Actually EVERY card I have I get some sort of perk for having that card.  I do not have Discover.  I did years ago but closed the account.  I did not say EVERY OTHER CARD has perks.  I said MOST.  And most of them do have perks.

One thing to keep in mind (in helping you be disciplined enough to use this tip)... Most cards offer some type of automated payment system. You could elect to pay the minimum balance (which would not be good for this as you need to pay off your full balance so as not to incur interest charges), a fixed amount, or the full balance (the best for this trick provided you know you'll have enough money in your bank's account to pay it off). If you set up the automatic payment to pay off the full amount, you won't have to personally remember each month to pay your bill, and you won't get any interest charges on your purchases so you get the full benefit of the reward.

That is a very good explanation concerning debit versus credit cards - very simple and understandable.

I have had a discover card ever since it first come out by sears. Man that has been a long time. I do use it once in a while when I have to order online otherwise I rarely use it. But the rewards are good.  Which reminds me I need to use them again.

I THINK that makes a lot of sense, use a card that rewards you if you are going to use one.  everyone can use a little extra cash.

I do the same. Great to get cash back, plus the added bonus of the interest earned by keeping my money in my savings account for an extra month or so.
