working...due to company's GREED.   (They give employees a free turkey dinner at work & tell them to be grateful they have a job.)  Working black Friday is mandatory for everyone.  Will also have to work Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve & New Years Day.............it's NOT a job in the medical field.  It's some EXTREME B.S. !

Was going to ask if you work at Walmart.  But they are closed on Christmas Day.  For now any way.  I know McDonald's has signs up they will be open on Christmas Day this year.  I can see retail closing on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day but thinking they will close on ALL holidays like New Year's Eve and New Year's Day is ridiculous.  It's retail - and they are open on the holidays.
Things were better when we had Blue Laws and everything closed on Sunday's.  And the places staying open is not just a matter of company greed.  If nobody went in the stores and shopped then they would loose money being open and they would stay closed.  It's also funny that the ones who want to be critical of employees working on Sunday are the very ones shopping on Sunday.  Or holidays.

Within a couple of years I figure Christmas Day will be just another day like Columbus Day and nothing will close.  I do get so sick of hearing people say the just be thankful you have a job.  Nobody wants to work the holidays.  And the people who get them off don't get it.

I'm going to enjoy Thanksgiving with a bunch of family over at their house...  I'll be making a couple dishes to take over before hand.  Going to start prep shopping tomorrow.

Hopefully your two Thanksgivings are close to each other so you won't have to spend a lot of time driving, those freeways/roads are packed.

I usually get a invite to someone house since my immediate family doesn't spend the holiday together. I got one today from a friend at church when I told her this story and hadn't heard from anyone else yet.

I have 2 invitations but neither one is for Thanksgiving Day, one is for Wed. evening and the other for Friday early afternoon so I guess I'll have a turkey sandwich on Turkey Day.

My husband and I will be driving down to visit his step-mother's family. We typically spend Thanksgiving with them (and his dad) and Christmas with his mom, since Christmas is also his mom's birthday.

Oh wow, that's wonderful! Maybe you can make both? It's such a blessing to feel wanted around the holidays.

This is the first year I am not doing something with my parents and sisters. I got more invitations than I could actually accept. Pretty excited to have so many friends open their homes to us!
