After hours and weekends/holidays are the times I will drive to the city near by, 45 minutes away, to go to the Acute Care clinic rather than to the town hospital if it is minor ailment needing doctor's care/anitibiotics, etc.  After hours, you get billed the Emergency Room visit rate at the local hospital.
I am grateful we have a local hospital because we have needed the Emergency Room, but for minor ailments, it is far cheaper to drive to the next town if you need care after hours.

I too have never tried a walk in clinic  but you are right Cateyes1  what if I needed it  I usually wait to make a doc app if sick  our clinic in two different directions is over 45 minutes away

some are ok - others no better than ER - really depends in the people and management...

No better than an ER?  They aren't meant to be an ER.  Most will not even treat an emergency.  I know there is one in my town (a friend works in the office) and they do not even do blood work.  They do very minor stuff.  Personally, I would never use one of these.  I will go to a real doctor (my doctor) or not go any where.  Just my opinion.

It is nice to clinic have the availability of walk in clinics near by when something dire happens to you medically.

The closest one to me is at Kroger's but I think it's $75 or $80 and I haven't been there.

Yes, they are great I use them more often then my regular doctor; where it is sometimes hard to be seen in an emergency and of course going to emergency room is very expensive compared to the walk in clinics; I figure if is something serious requiring hospitalization then they will call ambulance and have me transported. The one we use also has a pharmacy, so if they prescribed medication you can pick up at the same time, they really are a good option!
