distractions

there are times when you are trying to do something and someone comes along to distract you.
there are occasions when you are focused on a project and the phone rings.
sometimes, we get lost after the interruptions.

I do understand what you mean. At work I'm doing something and some one comes in ask for some thing and there I go have to remember where was I before the interruption, some times it just happens one after another.

Yep. There are lots of things that can take our attention away from what we are doing. Just gotta try to remember where we left off and keep at it.

I know exactly what you mean I hada day like that today. I had so many interruptions I barely got anything done.
Most days I can get back on track after being interrupted but today! :peace: :santa:

I understand completely about the distractions described by the OP. Interestingly enough, whenever I am doing schoolwork, I always have the television on and am watching a YouTube video on my laptop. Yet, in the presence of all of these distractions, I manage to get my work done. Absolutely strange, LOL.

It all comes down to discipline. If you have your eye fixed on the prize, most distractions slide off like water poured over a duck.

I used to work at a sign company and my whole day was interruptions.  The office manager said she didn't know how I did it.  Due dates didn't seem to mean much.  Customers would come in early and I'd get pressured to get their job out instantly, no matter what, then get in trouble if any other jobs were late as a result.  >:(

It never failed at work that I would get distracted  several times a day.  I learned to roll with the punches. Like they couldn't tell I was busy with a dang phone stuck in my ear, a note pad and pen going.  Or someone would page me to go on the floor for a problem, that they could have handled if there weren't so lazy. But  it was part of the job of being a problem solver, besides running my own department .  My boss gave me a little plaque over my desk. It said don't tell me I can't do something when I am doing it.

So far the only big distraction I've had around here are our dogs. They like to playfully bark at the dogs next door. They can get pretty yappy, especially our littlest dog, and I can't stand the sound of that yappy barking. But then I just let them in so really it's not too bad of a distraction.

That is so true. My son used to study with his phone by his side. I would hear texts and e-mails coming in every five minutes.  Each time he would take a minute to stop doing his homework, review the text, reply to the text and spend another minute going back to his homework and trying to figure out where he left off. His grades started suffering until we shut his phone off (through the phone company) between the hours of six pm and nine pm-his designated studying time. I think that today's society has got so many interruptions. Babies grow up being pushed in strollers around mega-malls, kids grow up with cell phones, adults have computers that can be running twenty programs at a time...no wonder there is a heavier reliance on adhd drugs.
