bookcases - desks
« on: December 07, 2015, 07:20:00 am »
When you go to the store to buy office furniture, you may still have to do some assembling.
I bought a desk and asked someone to put it together for me.
It functions fine after all these years. There is one nick on the inside. You can hardly see it.

When I bought a bookshelf, I had it put together for me.
It didn't hold up very well.
 It didn't tumble or anything.
I found a craftsman who made me a bookshelf custom made.
Custom made is always solid and lasts a lifetime.

Unless you buy a real expensive  piece of furniture made from real wood the rta (ready to assemble) is all made from wafer board with a laminate skin on it and they are almost worthless. will hold up for a time but then start to get wobbly, screws will not stay tight. I know I used to sellit at a retail store.  I would rather go yard saleing and find a piece of real wood furniture and refinish it . It will hold to gether so much better.

I have many pieces of inexpensive kit furniture that I've had for years and it's all still fine.  All my bookcases, my desks, my media storage, etc.  If you take care of things they last.
