First off, you should know if YOU owe any money to the IRS.  I don't know if they call or not.  I do know they send certified letters.  If you had called they would have told you if you pay $500 we will stop this and let it go.  And then tell you to go get a green dot card and call them back and give them the info.  People who fall for this are stupid and deserve whatever happens.  Anybody ought to have enough sense to know the United States Government does not take payments over the phone via a green dot prepaid card.  But people fall for it every day.

Penwoir- It's not hard to get the current balance and even the last payment made.  You would be surprised how much of that is actually easily obtained on anyone.

Nancy5- The Do Not Call list does not apply here.  This is a scam caller.  If they are calling to scam you they are not too much up on obeying any laws. lol

Teresa- My Mammaw got that same call.  I done a search on the phone number the call came from and it was a McDonald's about an hour from where we live.  I called and talked to the manager and he basically just laughed which made me think he knew about the call or made the call himself.  The call could have been spoofed but if somebody spoofs my number I will be trying to find out who is doing it.  Not laughing about it.

missplaymate- The do not call list does not block you phone number.  They get thru because they dial the phone number.  And like we already established if it is a scam they aren't going to abide by that list any way.

braggin - It is easy to know the general age of anyone.  All you need is their name.  Go on white pages.com and there you have it.  If you play on google much it is unreal how easy it is to get tons of information.

I recently had an unidentified man calling my work asking for me and when I would be there again.  No one told him anything but he asked for my home phone number and said he had it but had lost it.  In the end he left his first name and the phone number said to give it to me.  I was able to google and get his name and address.  And this from a cell phone that supposedly can't be googled.

Yea, I never even listen to my voice mail....a lot of scams going on......and doing surveys I have a google number I give out so my person cell doesn't have unwanted calls.

Get a free google number if you have a gmail account

How do you do this?  I have a google account.

What a good idea to Google the number.  I wouldn't have thought of that.  I would have just erased and dismissed the call.

lol.  I do that ALL the time.  Every number I don't know that calls my phone gets googled.

I get scam calls all the time. I am use to it now and try and block them on my phone or ignore them. Most are about "a federal U.S grant" yeah okay.

I don't think I have ever received a call about a federal US grant.  I don't answer the phone if I don't know the number.  Esp if it is a crazy area code I have never heard of.  I did get a call from a smart@ss man that left a message tell me I needed to call him and ended the call with "this is a bill collector".  LOL at him.  I have NO outstanding debt.  And def have nothing in collections.  And then I win a cruise to the Bahamas every day.
