Tell me a favorite black & white & an in color flick
« on: January 12, 2016, 03:05:57 am »
So I'm watching the black&white version of Jane Erye with a very young Orson Wells and all I can say is WOW I get all the fuss over him now.  The movie was quite riveting though I've never read the book, and I'm sure Mr Wells was a bit over dramatic, I will watch  it again and I have the book lined up to read soon too.  Not sure if men would get all that a woman would get from this but it's still a great concept of the oppressed orphanage era.
Not my favorite but up there so I got this new topic idea 😆
This will help me get to know other movies that I should check out or get another prospective on one's I've seen😊
As for color I'll say 'Overboard'! Staying with something recently seen.  I love Goldie and Kurt's chemistry in this film,  I must have seen it at the least a hundred times! A must see!  I even think u guys will get a great laugh or 50 out of it too.

I haven't watched any black and white movies, but my daughter (who is 2) will sit with her grandparents and watch them without a problem lol.

Sargent York is one of my most favorite black and white films.  I love watching Gary Cooper in his movies.
Have a wonderful day!

Sidney Portier's A Patch of Blue and pretty much all of Jerry Lewis movies are my favorite black/white/color movies.

I'll just toss in probably two of my favorite movies of all time.  B/W Harvey with Jimmy Stewart; color Diner with a young ensemble of Tim Daly, Steve Guttenberg, Daniel Stern, Kevin Bacon, Mickey Rourke, and Paul Resier.

Both are classics and five stars out of five!

I love a black and white version of Sabrina,  much more than the Harrison Ford one,  yep I said it. I like him better in action like Star Wars and Indy Jones flicks.
Color,  hmm. ..I loved Lost Boys,  best vampire flick as far as I can tell too lol. I gonna have to list many more once I have the time.

Gone with the Wind is my favorite black and white film.  A close second is I Want to Live with Susan Haywood. I love all her old movies.

My favorite black and white was an oldie called "Seventh Heaven" staring Jimmy Stewart. He was only in his early 20s then. I watched it every time it was on.

I also loved the black and white versions of "It's A Wonderful Life," Miracle on 34th Street." and the original version of  "A Christmas Carol" with Alistair Sims. I still watch the first 2 every year at Christmas.

As for color, I love "Goodfellas," any Al Pacino, Harrison Ford (except Star Wars), and Robert De Niro films.

I just remembered a great one with Myrna Loy, Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable called 'Test Pilot'. That old story about 2 men/best friends in love with the same woman but I loved it none the less lol I'm so easy sometimes hahaha
In color I'm going to say recently I saw a very heart gripping story with Drew Barrymore called 'Miss You Already', a great friendship story that might bring a few tears.  Well worth the watch!

I love a wonderful black & white called Gigi. Starring Leslie Caron and Maurice Chevalier. Ms. Caron also had another favorite called Lili about a circus. Also Mr. Chevalier made famous the song Thank Heaven For Little Girls in this movie. The movie is about old school teaching of a woman's etiquettes and the volunteering changes of a man in love. Cute 😆
I'm working on the Star Wars Series and of course I started with what is known as episode 4, lol,  but it is what I started with back in 1977. I can't believe it has been so long since the 1st time I seen this lol. Also I find it incredibly funny that I didn't catch Jams Earl Jones' voice after watching them all but I will say after seeing him in so many movies I've gotten to know his voice more and find it more recognizable.
