Lipstick In School

According to a news report, a certain school in Washington was faced with a unique problem.

A number of 12 year old girls were beginning to use lipstick, and would put it on in the bathroom.

That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick they would press their lips to the mirror, leaving dozens of little lip prints.

Every night the maintenance man would remove them, and the next day the girls would put them back.

Finally the principal decided that something had to be done.

She called all the girls to the bathroom, and met them there with the maintenance man.

She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian, who had to clean them every night.

To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required.

He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it.

Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.

There are teachers, and then there are educators.   ;)

That Principal knows one way to stop them girls from making that janitor work hard. LOL I like the idea. I was going to say suspend them all but straight from the toilet bowl to the mirror, VERY SMART. Hahaha!

I like how the principle handle the situation too. I don't know why these girls are in such a rush to grow up. It is nice when you don't have to wear make up to look presentable. They should enjoy that time.

What an incredible idea. A very crafty principal there, who has a bit of a sense of humor and understands his young students. I was thinking the story might end with them being forced to clean their own lipstick off the mirror but this is so much better and more poignant.

I thought it was great idea.  Wonder if they did it at home. If so they had no respect of others property. I never wore lipstick or face make up and still don't can't stand it on my face. as for the lipstick it would have been chewed off within 5 minutes. I am a wash and go person. Now my sister takes an hour to get ready to go somewhere. like me as I am or look somewhere else because I am me and not some made up snob.

I love the solution, although I'm a little surprised (esp. in this culture of being offended by everything) that the principal / school didn't get into trouble. I could picture one of the girl's parents suing the school for harassment and / or putting their "little angel" in danger health-wise.

Having been a young girl herself, I'm thinking that the principal knew the best approach would be the one that grossed them out the most.

It wouldn't do any good to sue the school, or the principal.  After the girls saw the toilet water being used to clean the mirror, if they continued to kiss the mirror, it's on them.
Most of the parents I know would say the principal taught the girls a good lesson.
