not sure i have tried to get referrals but the people that i refer always end up dropping the ball

the majority of them will, either right away or with time. the biggest hope is they will stick with it long enough to get a couple cashouts. my best ref had 4 cashouts, and nothing lately. all my refs have stopped cashing out. it might be time to go get some more.

I think it was oldbuddy (apologies if I am giving credit to the wrong user, but I am pretty sure it was him) who advocated getting to KNOW your potential referrals and fostering some sort of relationship with them.  The point was that was the best way to increase your chances that they would remain active referrals.

I have 138 referrals - 137 of which have come from my web site where I don't have tremendous ongoing interaction with visitors, but present them with earning opportunities.  I have one referral from direct word of mouth who I was able to directly talk up the site and regularly check on her progress.  She is the ONLY referral of mine who has cashed out even once (she has multiple times).  Now it MAY make a difference that she is my mother, but the point is that I was able to talk to her and follow her progress with her and she has become a steady user.  Is she had stumbled upon the site by following a random link, she may have signed up, but I have my doubts that she would have remained active.

She has ONE referral of her own who regularly cashes out -- that is her sister, who lives hundreds of miles away, but who she speaks to at least once a week on the phone.

My point = I think oldbuddy is 100% correct.  Sure there may be some luck involved in the equation, but you need to have a relationship with the referrals to really keep them active.  I wish there was a way to coax signed up referrals here into the forums...

There is no thinking out of the box.  You cannot make people join these sites.  I have told several people.  Even placed my link different places online.  I hate when people tell me how easy it is and how I just need to think out of the box.  It is not that easy.
Then how do you explain, how some people get hundreds and other people can't get any? Do you think the people who get hundreds are just lucky, or could there be something they are doing that is different?

I doubt if you could convince a kid with his first bike and skinned knees and elbows galore, that it's easy either. But the truth is, once you learn how and get some experience and confidence, it really is. Not only that, but you can switch to a different bike and it's still going to be just as easy, even if you have never ridden one like that before.

No you're not going to win the Tour de France after a week, but every referral you get makes the next one that much easier.
