economy
« on: August 26, 2009, 09:31:59 am »
I do not believe this economy is getting any better. Please keep my sister and her family in your thoughts/prayers. My brother in law works as a meat cutter in a small grocery store and they just found out his store is going to close. She is a stay at home mom and always has been. They have five children with the oldest being 12 in a couple of weeks and the youngest being just a few weeks old. This really makes me sad. Our family has been through so much the last few weeks/months. I do have a great job, but I worry sometimes because I know it can happen to anybody at any time. I know when one door closes, another one opens. I hope it opens soon for him.

I sure hope our country turns around soon, but it doesnt look very good right now.

The economy is very tough, that's for sure. I got divorced last year, my ex husband and I have had our house listed for almost a year (for 15% less than what we paid in 2003) and have not had a single offer. It's awful, that's for sure!

Prayers for your sister.

The crisis is over, the recession will be declared ended next quarter or at the latest the third quarter.  Does that mean things like unemployment will decrease drastically?  Probably not.  We'll be lucky to have unemployment down to 10-12% by this time next year.  The economy is getting better, it is simply a matter of time, along with economics being a self-fulfilling prophecy.  If consumers don't think it's going to get better, they'll be making financial decisions based on that assumption, and that in effect will keep the economy down longer.

If you pay attention to the news and polls every day, it can drive you insane. Some of the right-wing news anchors, like MSNBC, play up Obama and his ideas, but don't report the way things really are.

Just keep in mind, the longer this economy lasts the more people will turn to the Internet for extra money. That means more referrals and better commissions for everything I do here. It's not all bad.

the economy is starting to pick up but now i think we are headed for deep trouble with the prices of things.  every time we open our eyes we see that the cost of living is going up.

There is currently no inflation taking place.

Did you just say MSNBC is right wing?  I think you're mistaken...

Nobody in the mainstream media reports things the way they really are.

I hope things work out allright for you and your family. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers! My household was also a victim of the recession. I was a high paid executive and when the banks crashed, so did my job....and income. Unemployment is a joke, i did not get but $350 a week and had made a six figure income for the past 8 years! Then a few weeks later my husband was laid off! We spent our savings paying our bills for several months in advance so we did not lose anything. Today I am blessed with a new career. I am not making half of what I did at my previous career, but it puts food on the table and a roof over our heads. My husband has also found work. We are getting divorced now, but everything happens for a reason. This country has pulled out of a recession smelling like roses before and with faith, we will do it again!
