I've felt what you're feeling when I was younger. :(

Someone had mentioned it already, but I'll just give another thumbs up for you setting small simple goals. Do three at a time with a time frame.

When you start achieving these small goals, you're going to feel a sense of some kind of accomplishment. This will propel you to keep pushing forward and achieving more goals. It seem kinda hokey, but it works.

I wish someone had told me about this years ago because I wouldn't have been so direction-less in my younger years.

Decision time...

You want to decide if you want a regular job, a telecommuting (work from home) job, or if you want to start your own business and/or do freelance work from home.

Make a list of your interests, your skills, etc.. and go from there.

As long as your parents are cool with you staying with them, stay there as long as you can while you're saving your money and getting completely on your feet.

Resources:
Freelance work - search for odesk, guru dot com, elance
Home jobs - search for "work place like home forum" and "wahm forum"
Home business - the Internet is littered with ideas and opportunity - gotta sort and sift through them.

Hopefully this has helped some.

That's solid advice as well in my honest opinion. I've been studying for my permit and getting more serious about my license and a vehicle. One step at a time. I'm studying in increments and going to DMV soon enough. No one else is in your shoes. I completely agree with decision time.

I hope things change for the better for you.  My son lives with me and he has similar problems.   Let his DL expire.  Doesn't have a job and for the most part doesn't leave the house.  I will pray that things will change for you and as I hope things will for him.

Thank you for that. I will be doing my best and working my hardest. if i'm going to be completely honest, i have trouble with finishing anything, and am lazy at times as well. I really need to get these things under control as well. its easy to talk all the talking in the world, much harder to even put some of the talking into action.

Start out by doing odd jobs for people. See what you can do like mow lawns, fix / wash cars etc.
Buy bus pass for a month, this gives you mobility to go and get things done without asking others for rides.
Your birth certificate cost a small fee and all it takes is a trip to the SSA office. Your Drivers' license cost a small fee as well and you can go and acquire it.
You can take a course at the community college in your area, this will make you employable. Find something that's in demand.

It sounds like you have a positive attitude towards getting what you want and just setting the tiniest of goals such as obtaining your birth certificate or getting your license is a huge step! Do you have a resume? What kind of experience do you have? Are you more of a hands on type of person? All things to consider before finding a long term position. As for staying with your parents, as long as they are supportive of you and are willing to help you out while you are not working and not making you feel guilty, then I would definitely keep the communication wide open with mom and dad and make sure they are involved with your goal settings every step of the way. Offering a few bucks here and there to help with living expenses and just keep surrounding yourself with loving and supportive people. Build a nice resume and submit it on Monster.com and CareerBuilder.com and you will be amazed at how many people contact you! Good luck my friend and I wish you luck in all your endeavors! :)

It all starts with that first step and a bazillion baby steps after! Any job can be a stepping point. Positive attitude goes so far. I have seen lots of people meet with success at temporary agencies. Temp agencies can put you in a position and if you like it you might make an impression on the people in charge of hiring you full time. Even if you start at a fast food restaurant-so many of them have management trainee programs for those that show that they are willing to work hard and exhibit a positive attitude. So many people look at jobs and say yuck. I was happy to do anything when my businesses were dying. People saw how hard I worked, noted that I was positive/didn't complain and opportunities presented themselves.  Good luck to you!

Unfortunately I can relate to this.  I believe the bottom line is your motivation and personal drive.  You can turn your life into something better than you could ever imagine.  All you have to do is want it bad enough.

what is a grown man, with nothing, including very limited job experience, no drivers licence, no car, no money, no nothing to do out in the real world. Where is a good place to start?

I figure that since I lost my birth certificate and GED that that is a good place to begin. get my hands on new ones of those, and go from there. I fear that i will be stuck in minimum wage jobs for the rest of my life, and I will live paycheck to paycheck forever. never getting ahead in life.

I know that most reading this also have money trouble, i mean you are here earning a little extra. A place to live should be my first priority. I can't get far living with my parents, or on the street. Its going to be a rough road. Where would you wise and experienced people start?

Hello There! :D :)

I would just say it is good to just start.Start anywhere the end result will be the same. You will move to a different area in your life. It is very important to be optimistic. Having a pessimistic view means things will not work out. Your view will only prevent you from reaching your goals.

If you don't think things will happen then they wont. At least you are taking control of your life by working on getting extra cash here. I too am having money troubles because I'm not working that many hours anymore. The reason I'm not working that many hours is because I'm working on my business. Another reason I'm short on cash is because my boyfriend lost his job on October.

Yeah we all go through hard times we just have to do the best we can. Since you're online there are freelance jobs out there to help you get more money then fusion cash. That's what I'm doing and it certainly is working. Google freelance jobs and check it out!

Cheers,

I would say try to check with the Goodwill career centers and call and see if your county has some bus assistance for low income people.

thanks for the kind words. my parents aren't really that supportive, but they said I could stay there if need be. better then a homeless shelter i guess. As far as experience, I have very little and what I have experience with wont really get me anywhere in life. maybe check to check.
