I have had a somewhat extensive mortgage history for about thirty five years-since buying my first duplex at age eighteen. Even when my wife and I moved in with each other, and were building our first home, I still had rental properties-although I had to sell one so that we had a decent down payment for the house being built. My wife had always been a renter and buying a home was outside of her comfort level. I figured that if we built she would get caught up in the excitement of picking out fixtures, paint schemes and flooring types. I was not wrong! We are on house number two together and she is always doing little fix ups on it. I found a really good deal on three condos, sweet financing, and already filled with three long term tenants. I was going to surprise my wife as an anniversary present. She caught wind and said no-that she needed to be part of the decision making process. Kind of bummer because they tripled in value...I guess it is a lesson learned!

I'm in my first apartment, so I'm planning to stay here for a while, work on paying off student loans, and then worry about buying a house once I've made a start on paying those back.

We still pay rent along the way.  Too many people to feed :)  But I'm still happy with what we have.

This is something that I don't have yet. Rent or a mortgage. I am trying to get my bills under control finally and save money for an apartment or house. I'd be happy with an apartment as long as I can still save for a house, even if that takes a few years. Finding someone to do all that with would be wonderful as well...

Hello to everyone out there in Fusion Cash World:

We might have a room available to rent out in Riverside, CA  near UCR if God permits.
And, yes, this would definitely be a great contribution towards our monthly mortgage payments.
If anyone knows of a responsible, employed Christian man who can pay his rent without coming up with excuses as to why he cannot pay, then please contract me via text at 17148157018 and I will pass this information on to my husband Mario.

Thank you and God bless each and everyone of you!

Sincerely yours,

Susan

Some rent is just as high as a mortgage, so I rather mortgage than rent if you could.

We paid off our mortgage a few years ago.  We threw extra money at it when we had it.   We bought it with a 30 year mortgage, then when interest rates went down, we refinanced to a 15 year.

No mortgage history for me, but I sure hope that is in my somewhat near future.  Rent just seems like throwing money away.
