Take it from someone who suffered from periodontal disease and battled it for 12 years and lost.  If you quit going to the dentist, you will eventually loose your teeth and its no picnic.  Luckily, I now have a bunch of implants.  But it cost an arm and a leg and many procedures and time.  I found dentures almost impossible to wear and only found out this was true of a fair amount of people after my teeth were all pulled.  If you can possibly afford it, go.  Arrange a payment plan if you have to.

I go every 6 months. I just changed dentist the beginning of last year and I wished I would have a long time ago. I think my new dentist is really nice and good at what he does.

I always DID, but then I got really CRAPPY insurance and had no dental coverage. I did make an appointment for later this month; going to cost me $175.00 for just a cleaning... it sucks, but I know how important it is to take care of your teeth. My kids are every 6 months no ifs, ands or buts about it!

I only go to the dentist when I have a problem. It is extremely expensive.

I go to the dentist every 6 months and whilst I don't particularly look forward to it, I don't dread it either. I'm totally okay with lying back in the dentist chair, watching HLN TV News whilst someone else flosses my teeth! Then when I come out I rather feel like I've been to the Day Spa! That's probably about as close as I'll come to going to a Day Spa since I gave up working to look after my children!

I go to the dentist every six months. I make the appointment ahead of time- or else I would forget!

Yes, I go every six months for a cleaning and get Xrays once a year. Plus practically every time I go, the dentist finds something wrong that has to be fixed. I finally broke down and bought dental insurance because I always have so many dental problems that cost a small fortune to repair.

I feel that it is a waste of money unless you need teeth realignment, whiten teeth, cavity fill up, root canal, or oral disease

Last time a dentist checked my teeth they just clean up plaque and tartar... Basic brushing teeth, mouth rinse, and floss could do that
