Windows 10 Annoyance
« on: May 22, 2016, 09:24:10 pm »
My computer automatically restarted and upgraded to Windows 10 again, but I didn't approve of that. I think everybody hates that version of Windows. That makes me want to give up my laptop computer and switch to an Apple Technology laptop (probably iMac). If I'm going to get an Apple laptop, I have to sell my Windows laptop to someone who actually can deal with any Windows computer no matter what. But what'll I do if nobody wants my Windows laptop? I won't be able to afford an Apple laptop if I can't sell my Windows laptop, and it's too late for a refund.

I am not sure but, I think you can take out the windows 10 and block it from coming back.  I would call someone that works on computers and ask them if that is possible before doing anything else!

I kind of agree about Windows 10, not a fan.  But I thought it was me, I'm not a technology advanced person.  I remember not liking Windows 8.  I get use to something and don't want it to change.   I figured I would get use to it just like I did Windows 8 and other technology stuff.   I'm not sure what to tell you about selling your laptop.  Laptops can be purchased at such a reasonable price that I don't believe I would purchase a used one for any amount that would help out with your purchase.   I think that's how most people feel.

That happened to me, also!  I kept declining the free upgrade but last Monday when I logged onto my computer, I discovered it had upgraded on me.  I don't like to have to search for things that I was accustomed to knowing where it was!  Like all of the rest of the upgrades, I'll eventually get use to it, I guess.
Have a wonderful day!

I'm still using windows 7 on my laptop and I like it because I'm used to it and hate all these stupid and basically useless updates these companies throw at us at the drop of a hat to "make things easier for us". I keep declining the windows 10 update too and hope my laptop doesn't automatically make the change for me like some of you. What a pain in the you know what!

Same thing happened to me. I woke up one morning and found Windows 10 on my computer. Fortunately, I didn't have any problems other than a few minor issues. I do believe you can remove it if you want too.

I turned off automatic updates on my Windows 7 laptop, so it won't automatically upgrade. I think Microsoft is very unethical to force everyone to get an operating system that they don't want.

Microsoft did a great job forcing regular users to update to windows 10 with annoying popups and automatic updates... Both my parents upgraded their windows 7 to windows 10 within the week of the OS release (even though they supposedly said they didn't do anything)

Many tech articles have solutions to stop the windows 10 update: Either change the OS upgrade registry to disable or uninstall a windows update that gets you the windows 10 app

There's no need to sell your computer.

You can roll back to Windows 7 or 8.1 if you want to.  Instructions here:

You can PREVENT Windows 10 from downloading again.  Instructions here:

All in all, I happen to like Windows 10.  I've had it since the upgrade first came out.

A few months ago, it was downloading itself without my wanting it. I found how to stop it, like the post above.

However, in July (think the 29th) the free version will end.  I have seen it suggested by more than one geek to download it,  You don't need to install it, or install and reject it in the first 30 days...with no penalty.

Just don't delete the download, is my understanding  The price is going to be insane, so I have to eventually use the free version.  it is invasive, and I am really disappointed in Microsoft.

I have yet to transfer over the proverbial "Dark Side" that is Windows 10. Each time the dreaded pop-up window to download it comes up, I flat-out ignore it. Right now, I am pretty happy with the Windows 7 version that I have on both of my laptops.

To be honest, I am going to hold out as long as I can before I am literally forced to transfer.

I hate windows 10. Some of the programs that worked in windows 7 does not work in windows 10. So I reformatted my computer and installed windows 7.  I do not like the idea Microsoft is forcing windows 7 users to upgrade to windows 10 which is stupid.
