Do you live in a "fit" city?
« on: May 25, 2016, 05:43:07 am »
A report came out listing the nation's fittest cities? I've lived in a few. I lived in DC and was shocked to see it ranked number 1. I wasn't surprised to see Atlanta, Denver, Virginia Beach, or Miami listed.

Did your city make the list (I've posted the top 20 below but you may find the entire list here http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/23/health/fittest-cities/index.html) ? Any places surprise you or make you happy you live there?

3. Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO
4. Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro, OR-WA

I think Fayetteville, Georgia in the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia is just as fit, we have golf carts that we ride in, but to walk and go to the gym.

I'm a little surprised to see the Twin Cities listed as #2.... Although I do think that there is an emphasis on outdoor activities in this state what with the 10,000 lakes to swim in or hike around and the plethora of biking trails, the state is also known for having a more "meat and potatoes" diet with hotdish being a staple. I guess I would have expected more southern, coastal states being higher on the list as they tend to consume more fresh fruits and veggies.

Yes, I live near Denver, which is listed as number 3. I am actually surprised to see that we in the Denver/Boulder area have dropped down to third. However, for every person here that lives a fit and healthy lifestyle, there are probably 10 that don't. I love it here - so easy to get out and do outdoor activities. And spring is finally here!

I'm surprised there are not more Southern California cities listed.
Los Angeles is very health conscious, as are many South Orange County Beach cities.    Newport Beach, Laguna Beach....    there are no fat people there.... beautiful people everywhere you look.... & Huntington Beach?    I don't believe these aren't listed.

What a surprise, Houston's not here! Such a shame.  We don't have enough walking/biking trails. I work out at home anyway.

No, I live near St. Louis Mo. which there is so much to do and walk around but not a lot of people take advantage of it. Luckily my boyfriend and I work out 5 days a week at the gym.

I actually do not believe all the so called data of which city is a fit city or the opposite.  If you test all cities, then the numbers are definitely somewhat correct.  Whoever publish these numbers are just guessing.

Definitely not ~ it is dangerous to breath the air where I live!  So many chemical plants!
Have a wonderful day!
