part time workers
« on: June 12, 2016, 07:40:01 am »
can be just as reliable as full time workers.
they may be students who work after school.
I met one fellow who worked Friday and  Saturday nights at one job and came to work at 6 AM Sunday mornings.
He made the comment once when asked about it that he just keeps going. He gets just a little sleep in between.
He goes home after the Sunday shift and sleeps. I am sure he has a very irregular sleep pattern.

We use a lot of part-time employees and they are reliable hard workers. Couldn't get along without them.

I think the use of contractors and par time employees can be as hit or miss as full time workers with the possible exception that you do not get stuck with the long time drama, mistakes, liabilities and expenses that come with full time employees. Part timer's/contractors allow you to see how a person fits in and what skill sets they bring to the table. I also feel that part time employees and contractors have a time and place. They are a perfect fit for lower end projects that have minimal visibility and liability to the company. Even going through temporary agents, where contractors are screened twice, you may still end up with a costly poorly fitting employee. I came into my current day time project, initially, as a contractor and have been with this company for thirty months.

A lot of part time works come because they need the money.  Are they enjoy getting out of the house.

I used to hire a lot of part time workers, those who were in college and senior seniors. Give me the senior seniors any time, they were harder and more productive workers then the college kids. the kids let them know they were in college and didn't need the lower jobs and they were being trained as managers and should be in the management jobs, Got news for them they still have to start at the bottom and work their way  up. They also wanted to stand around talking while the seniors worked their tails off. If i had my choice  i would have hired all retiring vets and senior citizens.

Many people work some part-time jobs because they cannot find full-time jobs.

Part time workers are going to be the norm as employers can avoid paying benefits this way. Sad but true.

Not accusing those who have participated thus far in this thread of doing so, but do not knock part-time work. Some people on my end of the screen tend to scoff at those who hold a part-time job. In my opinion, it can potentially open the door to a full-time gig. In my case, I hold a full-time job, but it doesn't pay enough to pay my bills fast enough. I am currently in the process of looking for part-time work myself.
