Brilliance at its Best
« on: June 14, 2016, 12:27:54 pm »
I just read an article in the local paper about a 19 year old kid who blew up/off his hand today:

Erie County Sheriff said the teen suffered “very, very extensive injuries to his hand.”  The teen was in the passenger seat of a vehicle being driven by a 16-year-old Monroeville boy. Their friend was traveling behind them on Ohio 2 near Berlin Road when the incident occurred. As a prank, the teen reportedly loaded a mortar shell into a tube and attempted to fire it at the friend traveling behind them. Deputies said the teen loaded the mortar backwards, and it exploded in his hand.

I don't really want to speak ill of the poor guy who has probably lost his hand, but I gotta wonder what level of intelligence this kid has.  Even if he loaded the explosive into the tube "the right way" (as if there IS a right way to shoot off fireworks from one moving car toward another moving car on a busy highway) what the hell kind of "prank" is this and how can it be funny?  The kid is LUCKY that he didn't kill SOMEONE ELSE.  All the other motorists are lucky that he only permanently maimed himself. :bad:

Wow!  I'm really shaking my head over this one.  Stupid is as stupid does.  This dope could have killed a lot of people.  I guess he should be thankful he didn't kill himself.  Lesson learned?

Unfortunately most kids don't think. In their eyes they're indestructible. I feel bad the kid lost his hand but jeez, it's just so stupid.

Maybe he can contact JPP of the NY football Giants and ask him how he was still able to BS the team to give him a contract after JPP blew his hand up during a firework incident.

But i must say this. When you are younger amazing how u think ur indestructable.I loved lighting firecrackers,M80s etc when i was a teen.Got away without an incident. Now as i am older i wont light even a sparkler.I guess you get wiser with old age!!

Too bad he will only be eligible for Honorable Mention for the Darwin awards (the description for that category reads "The stupidity displayed by the participants ... stops short of the ultimate sacrifice, but we salute their spirit and innovation.")

Oh my goodness! It reminds me of a game two boys were playing once, a game of who dares, wins. One boy dared the other boy to walk in front of a train, and he did.  At what cost to himself? Of course he died. But the point is, he won the dare!!! How stupid is that? My heart totally sank when I heard this story on the news a few years ago. I was so taken aback at the stupidity, I couldn't, and still can't forget it.
