The past when women didn't work

Would you ever want the world to go back when women didn't work? Why or why not?

Women have always worked.  Whether at home or outside the home.

Ditto. My thoughts exactly.  :female:

Of course, if given a choice at this point in my life, I would prefer not to work outside the home anymore. Just can't quite afford it right now.

I am so glad that humans (at least in Western cultures) have opened up to allow women to work outside of the home. It is always good to use every available tool at your disposal when tackling a problem. If that "problem" is to increase human knowledge and productivity, then it's best to use every tool, every human mind, regardless of gender. Whether it's radiation at the hands of Marie Curie or more recently telomerases by Carol Greider, women have made an impact on the world outside of their home.

They didn't "allow" it.  Women fought for the right to work in whatever fields they chose. The womens movement wasn't just about the right to vote.

I hate working so that would be fine with me.

I'd like to have society go back to a time when there was better home life! A time when parents are home for their kids and the family has time to sit at the dinning room table together etc. It's important for women to have equal rights and to be able to have what they want in life but with both adults working, home life has suffered and that has caused more problems in society. We can learn a lot from the past!

My mom didn't work until she got older and then not much. I feel sorry for my daughter in law who has to work along with my son to pay the bills. She has a 6mn old he seems fine with babysitters. Woman went to work more in the second world war and when it was over went back home.Saw a documentary about how they wanted to keep working i don't believe that to much.

By working is a way of been independent.  My own money and I spend it any way I want.

Actually how old are you for asking such a stupid question? I'm working right now making cents but still working.

No such thing as a stupid question. That's my philosophy, because most of my questions are not too brilliant. :silly:

You ask because you want to know and understand, not to be judged on the caliber of your question.  :notworthy:

Women have always worked.  Whether at home or outside the home.

I've known plenty of women that have never worked even within their own home but that's correct in general.

I would be bored out my mind if I just stayed home all day. I have friends that are stay at home mothers and are waiting for when all their kids are in school so they can get a job again. Childcare is too expensive for both parents to work sometimes

Even when I was younger I always liked having my own money so I did odd jobs until I was 16 and could get a real job. I can't imagine an able body adult being so depended on another person for all their wants and needs

No. I would only switch back to an old idea if a new one didn't work for me. We all need to stay busy.
