Starting on Christmas gifts now! LOL!
« on: June 23, 2016, 04:48:45 pm »
I've started on making some Christmas gifts now for my mom, only because they take so long to make. I made 2 necklaces over the last 3 days. I usually start late, but I got a deal on some beads.
I'm planning on doing some sewing here soon too so I can make some things for my dad. I know it's June, but if I don't do it now, I won't have enough to get done on time and I will get behind again like I did the last few years!
Anyone else start early too?

If that saves you time, then go for it!  :) I normally wait until October-November to shop for gifts, but that's even if I have money that year to buy any. Luckily last year I did and got some goodies mostly from Michaels and Christmas Tree Shops. Good thing about those stores is they are within walking distance so I don't have to deal with the traffic!  :)

I earn points towards Starbucks purchases, save them up and spend them in December on Coffee Mugs and Starbucks gift cards. I also purchase a hat for each family member from a different charity each year. I make a contribution to the charity in the gift recipient's name and attach two five dollar bills to the hat with a note to the receiver encouraging them to give five dollars to a homeless person. I did this with ten gifts last year and am pretty sure that at least five homeless people received five dollars (and a hat). I do pick up additional gifts closer to the holiday but have started making all of my purchases on line. My goal is to have all gifts ordered by Thanksgiving this year so that I am not worrying that they will be delivered on time.

I started working on shopping for Christmas gifts in February and I'm almost finished.  I have a few more gifts to buy.  Now if I can get them all wrapped in a timely manner I'll be doing great.   :) :) :) :)

It might be a little too soon to start of Christmas presents now...I'm sure you can get some better deals later on in the year.

I have started getting organized and making some gifts. Last year I made my mom an afghan. It turned out nice and she loved it but I drove my self crazy trying to get it done in time.

It is hard for me to think about Christmas when it is 100 degrees, lol. I do, however, pick things up throughout the year so I do very little christmas shopping over the holidays.

I do sites like this one and save up on Amazon gift cards. When Christmas rolls around, my Amazon stock up becomes a lifesaver.

I've actually started making my first Grandson's Christmas stocking.  He was just born 6 days ago.  I've made all my children, nieces, and nephews Christmas stockings over the years.  There's no way my first grand baby won't have one made by me!!!  I always start these things early, too, because they're really time consuming and there are only so many hours in a day, LOL.  Not to mention the fact that my eyes aren't what they used to be like when I was 26!  That's OK!  I've borrowed my sister's magnifying lamp and I'm good to go!

Congrats on the early start, hope it's not just a reason to shop, :-)
