Meeting new people
« on: June 24, 2016, 06:16:25 pm »
Does anyone struggle with meeting people. I am kind of new in town and I want to build a better life for myself, but I need to meet some new people. I feel like all I have is myself and my children, which I love them and glad that we have each other, but it is hard when you have to deal with every single problem that comes your way on your own. It is exuasting and I need a change before I get burned out.

I am not a very outgoing person. I have always had difficulty meeting new people. I definitely try to meet people through co workers.

Church is a good place to meet people.

I have tried meetup.com. It is ok . I went out with a group once and had a good time , but haven't really been out with them in a while cause they have activities that do not interest me. I am not into doing crafts and that's mostly the events they have coming up.

I am beginning to like talking to people again. When I had my own companies I was exposed to a lot of yucky people and kind of burned out.  I immersed myself in work that would separate me from others: Glued to Three or four computer screens for roughly sixteen hours a day. When I do get time off from two jobs I have become somewhat of a chatter box. This happened about six weeks ago. I walked into a bar and made five new friends (both male and female). I think that it is easy if you listen and offer encouragement. Church is great  if you want to meet church minded people, bars if you like people who drink, fitness clubs seem to provide plenty of narcissists. When you are not being a parent, what do you like to do? Figure out where people go, that share those interests, and met friends at those gathering places.

I love meeting new people like 99 percent of the time.  Sometimes I just want to be by myself, which everybody needs.

I have some social anxiety so it's hard for me to meet new people. On top of that I'm a naturally quiet and introverted person. I agree with church though, most people there are pretty friendly and welcoming.

You should get involved in something. Maybe church or have the kids involved in swimming or sports. That way you guys can meet people with similar interests.

I have difficulty meeting new people. I suppose because I'm kind of introverted.

Yes, I struggle, I'm an introvert, and not very sociable. But I don't mind, because I like to do my own thing, and anyway I learned from experience that if I don't have any friends, I can't lose them.

I have this same problem, only I've lived in this city since I was small. I'd love to go out with a group of friends and be able to call someone up when I need or want, but I'm just not there yet. Too anxious, too fearful, too introverted. Wish I was the opposite! Maybe I'll go ahead and try meetup.com... Hope you find some company! :) It is hard branching out, but you can do it.

It is hard to meet people when you move somewhere new. I have moved around quite a bit and struggled with each move. I generally make friends through where I work in those situations. I think joining clubs or volunteering with a charity is a nice way to meet good people.
