budget
« on: July 08, 2016, 06:51:08 am »
I pay my bills.
I  spend money for things I need.
Then, I spend it on things I want.
I have to wait a while to be able to afford certain things.
I do keep track of my spending.
There must always be money for the bills first.
Waiting to buy something I want is necessary and difficult.

Feel the same way.  Wants take a back seat especially since my husband retired last year.

They're not "wants" for me.....they're a "wish list." and most people know wishes never come true.

I've been wishing for a new fridge and oven for 4 years now. Something always comes between those wishes. I was organizing my file drawer with all my instruction manuals for stuff in the home and came across the fridge bill. I bought it back in '93. My oven is from '85.  Geez, can you say uh, oh, that's why they are looking old, tired, and not running correctly?

That's what charge cards are for.   Home Depot is the best, if you pay it off in a year, it's interest free.   An easy way to pay off appliances :)

I pay my bills, live off one third of my income so I can deposit a healthy amount into savings (I'm planning to upgrade homes in March), and treat myself and my kids every now and then.

Another day of work and deeper in debt!  I work two and a half jobs-every cent of which goes into the household. The income is more than enough to cover all expenses and live comfortably.  My family does not see it that way and are always lamenting on not having enough. My wife's hobby is tennis, daughter's tennis and son's is lacrosse. All three like to party and go out to eat. My hobby is making money. I open accounts at banks here and there for cash rewards, take in aluminum cans, pocket coins that I find on the street and of course visit Fusion cash every day (or almost every day) as I have for almost seven years.  I save and invest my money. Instead of t-shirts from converts and tournaments I have a thumb drive with my balance sheet on it and a spreadsheet program (was free) on my phone that I review before getting six hours of sleep.

I'm rather particular about budgeting and tracking expenses.  I have a spreadsheet that I update daily.

WOW,  I thought I was the only one working 7 days a week and collecting cans.  It is tough these days.   I cut out cable and just have internet.  But, I am rarely on it these days.   Working 7 days a week is wearing me out but , I just chug along.   We cut out going out to eat as much as possible.  We try to make ends meet but rents getting higher and higher.  2 bedrooms here are 900 a month.  That does not include utilities.
