If a company like Walmart which is a billion dollar company says they "can" afford to pay overtime do you believe them?

I guess I never thought about it. If I worked there I would put some thought into it. I am sure they are able to though if they offer it.

This makes NO sense.  Why would I not believe Walmart if they said they COULD afford to pay over time?  Of course they can.  But they do not.  You are only allowed a certain number of hours if you are part time and not over 40 if you are full time.  If you ride the clock and go over you will be fired.  Or scheduled for less hours.

Walmart is so rich that the company plans to buy the inventory from the closure of some Macy's stores. Can you believe it?

Walmart is just greedy!  My husband retired from there almost 5 years ago!  I know how they treat their employees and I think it is a crying shame!

I think any company should pay their workers a decent wage. It seems like overtime is a thing of the past because so many companies think that their employees are easily replaceable.

I think it is not that they can't afford it, it is just that they choose not to allocate for it. I hate when people say that prices go up because of fair compensation and benefits, because that's not exactly true with multi billion dollar corporations. The profits and high executive salaries are what would be affected, and the corpororations are just not willing to evenly distribute the profits.

Walmart can totally afford it. That's, of course, if you work enough hours to even qualify for overtime.

I'm sure they can afford it but are they willing to is the question.

Didn't Walmart just purchase Jet.com for $3 billion?

It boggles my mind to even think about the cash flow at just one single Wal-mart.
I would guess they make in an hour what many make in a year.
I'm sure they are financially secure.

Of course they can afford to pay overtime. But they never will. The execs will never lose a dime of their money to help out the little people. And if they give overtime of course prices will rise and they will lose sales. So they will never pay overtime. It is just easier to hire extra people and give fewer hours to more people. But at least they are supplying a lot of jobs, so I guess we shouldn't complain too much.

I don't think Walmart is a very good place to work, they don't pay well and have very few benefits
